When it comes down to it, we may just be middle school kids, but over the few years we've been here in middle school, we created a pretty weird family. With an even larger extended family. And as with all families, we hate each other, we love each other, and sometimes we can't stand each other when other times we're clutching at each other to keep from crying. Depressing to think that we'll be split up in less than a year, but life goes on =_=
However, there are some people who I would very much love to see shoot their mouths off in high school, only to get jumped after school :D
(Typical teenage woes under the cut)
Choosing a high school is a bit confusing, though. West High is kind of the fall-back/default plan for most of us, but some are going of to Fountain Valley, others to Huntington, maybe even a few to Pacifica, Marina, and so on.
Good points?
West - Great AP classes, definitely amongst the best, and some pretty good sports programs. Mr. Watley is apparently starting up string orchestra, as well. They're currently doing extremely well in the Decathlon.
Fountain Valley - Prestigious strings program, good academics.
Marina - Once amongst the top in the Decathlon, and still doing pretty well. Strong sports programs.
Bad points?
West - Once notorious for the gangs in that area, and still quite a few rowdy students. There was a bomb threat last year, thanks to some idiot who threatened everyone in the library. He didn't actually have a bomb, but that's beside the point.
Fountain Valley - Pretty good school, with some of JMS's top alumni. The problem here is distance and transportation.
Marina - Not quite as good as it used to be, though still a strong school.
As for Pacifica and Huntington, I have very little in the way of details there.
I'm still confused. Argh.
And when I told Mr. Woodruff about the possibility of future basketball practices conflicting with guitar, he said he had to have an answer to which I would choose, should the problem occur, by next week.
Between the two, I don't know which I'd choose. Guitar is pretty important to me, but basketball is something I've really wanted to try.
And as for my thoughts on block schedule?
...it sucks. Seriously. Supposedly designed in order to spend more time on mathematics, an area we have been lacking in. If you ask me, it's more hindering us than anything else. And it should be directed at the few kids who don't even attempt the standardized testing, but the ones who make an effort get thrown in the stocks along with them. Lovely.
Plus, GATE clusters have been watered down to the point where there's maybe one or two to upwards of four or five kids per class. It'd be okay if there weren't so much horsing around to the point that it looks like a kindergarten class... (And here I thought we were all thirteen, not three.)
It's also very, very worrying when a third of your classmates are wondering if Paris is a country. Not to mention when chatspeak is equal to daily language. (If I hear another OMG or JK that's not spouted out in sarcasm, I will kill something.)
It's also gotten to the point where we can go for days without seeing each other. A little unnerving, since lunch has been shortened as well. So things are a little more tense around here, for lack of a better word.
And fuck-buddies? You've got to be kidding me. I didn't think we were old enough to get that horny yet. Then again, I guess the hormones overpower some of the other mindless drones very easily.
Ugh. Middle school angst.
It's all the rage now, isn't it?
At least there's still some people around here who aren't liable to jump up in the middle of class and start a riot (and believe me, the kids in my third block have attempted to do so). Thank god for semi-sane classmates and friends who can sympathize with their classes.
middle school wins/loses/draws,
life sucks then you die,
thinking too much is a bad thing
