I woke up ass-early today on account of going to bed super early the night before. Played a little Shadow Hearts II until my body rebelled at being awake in the morning, at which point I went back to sleep for a couple of hours.
Shadow Hearts II is every bit as awesome as the original. Unlike so many other console RPG sequels, it is a true sequel to the original--the main character is the same and there are many NPCs from the first game. It's really brought me back into the world of console RPGing after spending so long on the PC with MMORPGs and games like KOTOR.
I've also gotten back into reading again. After finishing the final book in the Tawny Man Trilogy, I had a hard time getting into any other books. I have a half dozen books in my room that I've gotten a couple chapters into, but no further. Now, I am over halfway done with The Black Company, the first in a series of fantasy books I've been meaning to read for years. Green Ronin has come out with a d20 sourcebook for the world, and so I was finally motivated to get the first book. I'm really into it at this point. It's a first-person military yarn a la Starship Troopers or The Forever War, only in a fantasy world.
Anyways, sometime in the early afternoon, I turned on my TV to continue playing Shadow Hearts II and all the power in my room went out. I looked in my mom's room to see if it was a blackout, and sure enough the lights were out in there, too. I went downstairs to tell my mom that the power had gone out--and found that the power was still on downstairs. The meter guy came out to check our circuit breakers and told me that it must be a loose connection in the wires in the house. Great. So we're having an electrician come check it out tomorrow, in the meantime I'm running my computer off an extention cord from the guest bedroom which, like the outlet next to the master bathroom, was unaffected by this short.
Despite the electrical problems, the rain, and my miserable cold, I still managed to make it to Madgrigal's Feaste. It was fun. Me, bigevil, fuzzygondol, and steppyb all went in garb and got many compliments from the players. It's always fun to go to productions at the college and see AOKPers in them.
