Not too long ago, I decided that I would take a hiatus from World of Warcraft. I hit the level cap, I got my epic flying mount, and I'm not terribly interested in raiding or PvP. All that truly remained was to finish all of the Northrend quests. After I did that, I would take a break until the next expansion, or until a major patch with new content came around.
My hiatus began earlier than expected, and not entirely willingly. Last week, the latest patch came out, and I discovered that I could not download it because I don't have enough room on my hard drive. So I compressed some files, moved others to the external HD, and deleted still others. I came up less than a gig short. Since I still need to reinstall Photoshop, I know there's no way I can have enough room for the patch without going out and buying a new HD. I may end up having to do that anyway, but for the time being, I am in forced retirement from WoW.
It's weird how much of my time that game takes up. Now, I find myself cycling through the same couple of webpages for hours at a time, simply because I am used to spending that much time idling in front of the computer. Before, it was spent playing WoW.
With a new Shards game on the horizon, I will have plenty to occupy my newly-acquired free time. Who knows? I may even dust off the old 360 and play some of those other video games.
For now, I sleep.
