I went to the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) in L.A. tonight. I had to go for my design class, to write a paper on a particular exhibit there. I went with
fuzzygondol, who knew exactly where it was and how to get there. It saved us the trouble of driving around looking for the place like a lot of my fellow students did.
We got there around 9:45, and there was a big party going on out front, with music and alcohol and lots of hipsters. It was also around 80 degrees still, so we were quite grateful to go inside where there was air conditioning.
The area around MOCA was very interesting. It was a big plaza with lots of little shops and restaurants and a couple of stages for bands or other live performances. It was like an outdoor mall right in the middle of downtown L.A. I had never been to that part of L.A. except in passing, so it was quite an interesting experience for me.
The exhibit itself was modern art, not my thing, really. I found the people in the museum more interesting to look at than the pieces themselves. The gift shop had some fun stuff in it too, although nothing I felt compelled to buy.
We left shortly before Midnight. It was still fucking hot. Urgh.
It was an interesting experience. I'm glad I had someone to go with; I would have hated going by myself.
