I went to see both Clerks II and Lady in the Water last night.

I was pleasantly surprised by Clerks II...having never seen the first movie, I wasn't sure what to expect, although I have seen the entire animated series as well as every other Kevin Smith movie except for Jersey Girl and about half of Mallrats. I want to dislike Kevin Smith, seeing as he is this big icon now, but dammit, his movies are too entertaining! Clerks II, despite being a sequel, really stood up on its own. It was funny and touching at the same time. I really found a connection with Dante, and to a lesser degree, Randall. Plus they had King Diamond music in it! Grandmaaaa! \m/ >.< \m/

Lady in the Water was, as I expected, not a scary movie. I don't understand why they insist on trying to market all of his movies as scary movies. The only movie he's done that was truly scary was Signs. Even The Sixth Sense wasn't all that scary, despite its subject matter. Lady in the Water was a really touching movie, and there were many funny moments in it too.

Tonight I have to go to MOCA for my design class. Thankfully, I will have fuzzygondol as company.

It's too damn hot.
