I have figured out the camera problem I think. It's the batteries.
It can hold 8 but can work off 4 if you want. To save batteries I have been using 4.this was fine when they were fully charged but not now they have run down past half.
The reason it works inside on half is that its warmer. Once outside the cold affects the batteries even more and so results in not many triggers and not ful lenght videos.
This is my working theory anyway.
Last night I put all 8 batteries in and set it up to see if Pog was eating the mealworms by the hog house because he hasn't eaten anything in the restaurant for 3 nights running.
I set it just for photos because I just wanted to check on Pog so I needed it to work.
And I actually got great results!
Bitblurred due to a busy Pog or the camera being too close but I got 22 triggers starting at 22:10 and ending at 04:34.
First off I'm relieved to find Pog still present and munching mealworms.
Second I'm hopeful that the timings mean that Pog is living in the hog house.
10:30 seems a reasonable hour for a hedgehog to emerge at night, and if he was back at 4:30 could it be that he was heading back to bed in the hog hoyse before dawn?
There is also a photo of Pog inside the entrance tunnel coming out. It's not the first shot but it means he's happy to go inside.
Lately I have smelled bonfires in the evenings so I really hope Pog is sleeping in the hog house so he's well out of harms way.
Yesterday I added more leaves and some soil on the entrance to the hog house to help insilate it better. Hope I didn't disturb a sleeping Pog but I tried to be quiet.
My favorite photo from last night isn't one of Pog's face, but one of him scratching with a hind foot right in front of tha camera. XD
You can see Pog too on my flickr.
