Thinking about the Gaffer's taters the other night, so I made up some Raw Fries.

You'll need
A frying pan (skillet) with a good lid
Vegetable oil
Potatoes
Onion
Seasoned Salt or whatever pleases you
a little water

Put enough oil in your frying pan to just cover the bottom and heat about medium
Dice up some onion and start it in the oil
Wash the potatoes and then slice or shred them. One big potato can fill a skillet or a couple of small ones. By now the onion should be beginning to be transparent.
Add the potatoes to the oil carefully.
Let the potatoes brown a bit, flipping occasionally to spread the brownness. Now's a good time to add the seasoned salt.
When you've got some brown on the taters, put a little water in the lid of the frying pan and then turn it into the pan and cover it tightly so the potatoes will steam themselves cooked. Check in about five to eight minutes, and if the taters are done, serve with ketchup.
