The 2011 Sendai, Japan earthquake was an 8.9 magnitude earthquake[1], measured 7 on the JMA seismic intensity scale]][2]. It was located off the east coast of Tohoku, Japan on Friday, March 11, 2011 at 05:46:23 UTC at a depth of 24.4 km (15.2 miles)[3].
