Ohgod wow.... just wow. I've adored this series for like....ever now. And the fact that you did this awesome, and very thorough. Even now my only complaint would be lack of pictures but somehow I'm just loving you all the more for it. And your description about that ONE SCENE in the anime- and manga... It was perfect. That scene, out of all other scenes, is what made me REALLY fall for them.

I also remember reading about Mihashi for the first time. I remember loving him for the adorable hardworking spaz he is ....while wanting to strangle him for thinking EVERYTHING IS GOING TO GO WRONG AND IT IS ALL HIS FAULT DDD:. He is annoying but he's such a great guy that just ... you can't hate him. You feel bad that his old team treated him like that.

I also want to rant about how you made certain scenes and thoughts different than what I initially thought. I knew about their codependency- anyone can- but I love the depth that you really brought to it. Along with the examples, for that matter. I'm still in highschool but there were some ( ... )

Oh yay! I'm so glad you liked it. I didn't add pictures for several reasons, but mostly because I always hate it when pictures are added to a manifesto and then years later the pictures go down for some reason and then you've got a manifesto full of holes. MY MANIFESTO WILL NOT BE LIKE THAT, I vowed. This way, if there are any holes they will be neatly at the end.

But to make it up to you, let me share some fanart. I don't know who the artist is, so I don't know who to credit, but if anyone does I would be more than happy to credit them properly. There are many good ones but this is one of my faves:

Ohhh okay now that makes a lot of sense. >o< There are some manifestos that I like to look back on, and it always pains me to see the lack of working links for pictures.

And that really is a cute picture. It looks a lot like their actual character designs and the expressions are adorable.

And yes they're so awesome~ <3 I, not meaning to sound selfish, wish that they would translate the manga chapters faster though~ I want to know more about the current manga which, from what I know, is waaaay ahead of the translated version .___.

This was such an enjoyable read! I just sat down and at every line went, Yes, this is what makes Abe/Mihashi so great. I loved how you described each of the characters and their insecurities in-depth (and didn't gloss over Mihashi's... loserness/lovableness); there were so many things I hadn't thought about. I'd love to hear your analyses of other episodes, but that would probably take another several thousand words ♥

Hmm, maybe after I finish my fanfic. Writing this manifesto was a big detour from that, but once I finish it I would enjoy going over other parts. LIKE THE SPOILER SPOILER SPOILERS FROM EPISODES 10 AND 12 OF THE SECOND ANIME SERIES. You prolly know what I am talking about. :)

Oh, this is fantastic. I had actually not thought about how deeply messed up their relationship is; I guess because both of them grasp on it as something good so hard, it's hard not to idealise it.

I haven't caught up on the story in ages - I'll have to go do that.

DEFINITELY WATCH THE SECOND SEASON

It is a thing of beauty and a joy forever. Seriously. I adore it.

I'm glad you liked my manifesto. I worked really hard on it. But it wasn't very tough to write since this pairing makes me into a seriously chatty Kathy. But yeah, the messed-uppedness isn't super obvious, which is one of the things I like about it. On the surface their relationship seems kind of benign.. a bit weird, sure, not normal, but not TOO abnormal. But if you think about it obsessively then the problems really jump out at you. For me, those problems really make the pairing that much more enjoyable and hot. :)

Mihashi as a character just totally impresses me. It takes a lot of guts to write a character who has undeniably been bullied and who had real, relatable social flaws, as Higuchi has made him out to be, and then show clearly how he is a part of the problem, how he contributes to his own issues. This doesn't mean that he deserves to have been bullied, or that what was done to him was in any way justified, but it shows that he has some choices to make, and instead of choosing to blame others for how they treat him (even though he totally could and it would be fair!), he is always looking for the angle which points him towards self improvement. In the end, he is always trying to be his own worst critic. His self blaming ways can be so irritating and yet they are at the same time admirable, since he's not merely wallowing in his sorrows but rather is actively trying to make his life better ( ... )

Of course, Mihashi's past is realistic and very much the norm to kids who are or have been bullied. People think children are innocent but it's usually the kids who are most cruel to peers due to social pressure or to make up for their own lack of self confidence. But that doesn't excuse the effect it would have on the (I hesitate to call it) victim and how it may impact the rest of their lives ( ... )
