I'm surprised this manifesto hasn't really received any comments. I, myself, as a stark Griss/Cath shipper also have very open disdain toward the writers for ignoring chemistry. There are so many other pairings that make boat-loads more sense than Grissom/Sara and Warrick/Catherine.

There was no spark there. There was a spark between Grissom/Catherine. There was a spark between Catherine/Sara, Nick/Sara, Greg/Sara, hell even Warrick/Sara for a bit of season one.

And thank you for pointing out these little subtle moments between Cath & Sara that I otherwise would've missed while trying to look for G/C subtext :)

(Also? I really love that Sara's the only one that calls her 'Cat.' I think it's cute.)

Yea I can't believe they did that! I mean its really stupid...but the problem is, they actually brought Sara in as a love interest for Grissom, so even though the chemistry wasn't there, they went along with it...They should have gone with the chemistry between the actors...There was more of a spark between G/C than G/S. I mean he calls Catherine his wife in one ep XD...I believe it was season 4, but don't quote me on that one XD...But I mean that ship works because Billy and Marg flirt IRL...Idk writers are weird...I pretty much acknowledge any CSI ship but the canon ones...because they just don't make sense to me XD

haha you're welcome

I actually really appreciate that you read this since you don't ship them!

hehe it is very cute!

Exactly. They brought Sara in as the initial love interest, but when the chemistry just wasn't there they didn't pay attention. And that's why they've lost over half their viewership to other shows now. Billy and Marg was where the "main" chemistry was at imo, and then Marg/Jorja, George/Jorja, etc.

And it was in season four he calls Cath his wife, hehe -- "Jackpot" is the one. (See what a G/C nerd I am? They're amazing).

But like you, I also acknowledge pretty much any CSI ship except for the canon ones because of the fact that there is no real spark. Did you see the Griss/Sara kiss? Most awkward thing I've ever seen in my entire life. Grissom didn't move, didn't really shut his eyes until the end of the kiss, and it was just a closed-lip kiss that lingered -- Sara was all into it and he wasn't. You can tell that Billy's not a Griss/Sara fan though, because he STILL played it as awkward right up until she left. I LOVED THAT.

I actually really appreciate that you read this since you don't ship them! Well, I pseudo-quasi ship them ( ... )

yea I hate that they ignored the real chemistry...there are more people out there that hate the canon ships than that like them...I mean I would seriously support the selection of any of the other ships over them

Haha that episode made me giggle XD...they are cute together...I just tend to think Catherine would end up killing Grissom if he wasn't careful XD

GAH that kiss was the most freakin awkward thing ever! I hated it! It made me gag! (there was definitely more of a spark in the kiss between Marg and Billy on the set of E! XD) From what I hear, Billy and Jorja actually both do ship G/S...but I don't care how good of actors they are, it just doesn't appear in the show at all...

lmao yea after season 6 they kinda liked to force the whole gsr issue in like every ep..and the eps really just started to slowly go downhill...by 8 it just sucked altogether...but you missed a totally awkward, zero chemistry moment of YoBling! at the end of season 8 XD it was sooo forced it was funny XD

Nice manifesto. I like the 'eye shagging' photos. ;-)

As a character, Sara often irritated me, but I liked her scenes with Catherine. Yeah, it was kind of hard to predict if it was going to be easy flirting or angry snarking in any given episode, but it at least it was passionate and interesting. They had chemistry. Sara and Grissom's interactions, on the other hand, I felt were forced. (Granted, that might have gotten better. I only watched seasons 1 through 5.)

The episode where they process the gas station in the middle of nowhere together was one of the first I ever watched. And the Sara/Catherine scenes were one of the reasons I got hooked. I love any television show that will put two female characters together alone in a scene, and make their interactions natural and interesting and, you know, not bickering over a man or something.

Aw thanks!

Yea I started out not liking Sara much, but when I saw her potential with Catherine, I started to love her! XD...it was always interesting to watch their interactions...and no, the interactions with Grissom and Sara did not get any better, still as forced and still annoying...

Gah the gas station is definitely tied with Sara's arrival as my top favorite Cath/Sara moments! I love when they nip back and forth at each other like that! It's so cute! And you're right, it is very natural and very fun to watch!

Btw, I love your icon! It's refreshing to see another Barbara fan out there!

Thanks! Barbara is so awesome, isn't she? Whenever people complain about female companions in early Doctor Who being useless, I point out Barbara. Yeah, sometimes she screamed, but she also ran over Daleks in a stolen truck. As good at ass kicking as Rose, Martha, and Donna, as far as I'm concerned!

I'm weird with pairings. I like them best when they are subtextual, and often start disliking them when they become canon. That's how it was with me with Mulder/Scully (although I never really disliked them, just liked them less) and Doctor/Rose. But with Grissom/Sara I never saw it. When people talk about the subtext of early seasons, I'm left scratching my head. He bought her a plant because she threatened to leave? How romantic. Not ( ... )

Lmao yea I like to point her out too! I'm like, Barbara got their sorry butts outta trouble plenty of times! She was really freakin awesome!

XD yea I'm not really a fan of canon pairings just because I don't usually like the routes that they take with them...subtext is much more fun...and easier to work with in fanfiction XD...but yea...I never saw the Grissom/Sara subtext...EVER...

consider yourself very lucky XD

yea they really should have just started pairing based on actor chemistry...it would have worked so much better...and then maybe we could have seen cath/sara...no one can deny their whole love/hate thing XD
