So, wow, it's 2008. How did that happen?

Considering how much time I spend on the internet, it's ridiculous how little I update this journal. I don't believe I've outgrown in, per se, but I seldom feel that I have anything worthwhile to say. Not that it ever stopped me before.

2007 was an eventful year, I suppose. I finally went back to school and turned out to actually enjoy it. I became involved in a wonderful organization that I hope to have a career with someday. I reunited with Donovon and we brought our relationship to an exciting new level. I made new friends, gained new family, and learned more than I can say. It would be easy to label it as just another year post-highschool, but when I think of it that way, 2007 was a hell of a year.

I hope 2008 can be just as fulfilling.

Not a lot is new in the month or so since I last updated. I finished my first semester of the Youth Justice Program with straight A-'s... lesser grades than I would have liked, but something I should be more than satisfied with. I had to pass up the practicum portion of my semester due to circumstances outside of my control, but with any luck I'll be completing it at the end of my second semester.

I ended up working a lot throughout December, something that more than confirmed my desire to move on from Safeway. On the plus side, I have a couple of shiny new toys to show for it, including a Limited Edition Triforce Nintendo DS and modding hardware, and a handsome new suit.

I went to the wedding of an old friend, in fact, the first friend I made in highschool. It was a heartwarming experience, and on top of everything it allowed me to catch up with a few friends from highschool that I'd missed quite a bit. Considering how determined I was to keep close with the group of people I grew up with, it's sad how quickly some of those connections all but severed in just a few years. One of my resolutions for 2008 is to make more effort to spend time with my family and friends, regardless of how hectic work and school make things.

Donovon and I have managed to keep pretty tight, despite the obvious distance issues. We talk online almost daily and have exchanged a couple of phone calls and dozens of text messages. We sent each other Christmas gifts... he went way overboard, including a $100 gift certificate for West Jet to help me come out and see him at the end of this semester. In fact, if all things go as planned, I will be spending about three months in Calgary this summer, getting a job out there and trying out cohabitation. I don't really want to move to Calgary... my life is in Vancouver, my family and friends, everything. But for him... we'll see how this summer goes, and what happens in the next year of school. I miss him every day, and I can imagine worse things than moving 8 hours away to be with the guy I love.

The only other bit of news that comes to mind is that I have a job interview at the college for a job as a Peer Tutor. With any luck, I'll get (and like) the job, and be able to move on from Safeway by the beginning of February. If not, I'll only be working one day a week during school anyway, so I'll take the stiff upper lip approach and deal with it. But it would certainly be nice to have a change of pace and a slight increase in pay. We'll just have to see what happens.

I think that's all for today. I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and New Year, and that 2008 is full of promise.
