This is me updating from my new computer.
My own, personal computer, on my desk, next to my bed, in my room.
YAY!
His name is Odin, and he's semi-officially set up. Not a lot to him yet... he's got an Intel Pentium 4 processor at 1.7Ghz, 512mbs of RDRAM (I'll be getting another 512 within in the month), a 40Gb hard drive and a bunch of other basic necessities. I've got most of my main programs installed already (Firefox, MSN, AIM, Winamp, Photoshop etc.) but I'm waiting until I get an external hard drive before I get anything too memory heavy (*cough*worldofwarcraft*cough*) installed. I'm connected to the interwebs through our new wireless network... I've had a bit of lag on it today, but I think things will be a lot better once we've moved the booster into its proper location.
But yeah. Between this and the new 27" TV sitting across from me that my parents got me for Christmas, I'm having a pretty fantastic 2007 so far. I've spent the past couple of days powering through Full Metal Alchemist on DVD, an absolutely astounding anime series that Lise/Jenny lent me on DVD. I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys anime even the slightest bit. I've made it through almost 40 episodes in two days and I'm so desperate for the last 12 episodes (not to mention the following movie) that I could kill a man. Okay, maybe I couldn't kill a man, but I'd speak at him harshly and give him a disdainful look. That's something, right?
Thursday I'm heading down to Douglas College to get my books (classes start in a week... I'm so nervous!), my student ID and a vague idea of where I'll be going for classes. I also have to find time for a doctor's appointment (need to get a medical reference for my volunteer application) and an appointment with my investment guy (need to change the frequency of my RRSP contributions now that I'm only working two days a week). On top of that, I really should get down to the FIDO repair centre near Metrotown one of these days, because I still have a rather new phone sitting in a state of disrepair, and my ol' reliable is starting to go on the fritz. Joy oh joy.
All in all, though, I'm really happy and excited about the direction my life seems to be headed in. There's a little bit of angst of course, but I'm pretty sure that's unavoidable. Just a matter of focusing on the positive and letting everything else work itself out.
I hope everyone had a great holiday season and that the good stuff keeps on comin' through the new year.
Much love,
~ Rob
