And it looks like I won't have a choice.
My mom did, like, an enormous amount of Christmas baking today. And she made me sample everything. And then I went back for seconds, because my mommy is the best bakerer in the world.
So yeah, I'm gonna start the new year capable of being rolled down a street, but y'know what? That's cool.
In slightly less positive news, I apparently may need glasses. Unfortunatly, I can in no way afford them right now, or anytime in the near-distant future. So we'll see what happens. Luckily it's just for long-range stuff, so I'm not worried about the lack of them affecting my day to day life.
FANBOY NEWS!
1. Wizard Entertainment announced several new writers for Dark Horse's "Buffy: Season 8" today, the upcoming canon comic book starting in March. Writers from the comic book world include:
- Brian K. Vaughan: The comic GOD behind Ex Machina, Y: The Last Man and Runaways.
- Brad Meltzer: The man who recently made Justice League of America worth reading again.
- Jeph Loeb: Author of classic tales Batman: Hush and Spiderman: Blue and the man who helped Joss put together plans for now nixed 'Buffy the Animated Series'.
And Buffy wouldn't be Buffy without some of Mutant Enemy's talented writers. Currently signed on to pen issues of Season 8 are:
- Jane Espenson: Beloved writer of Band Candy and After Life.
- Drew Goddard: Introduced with Buffy S7's Selfless, he went on to write some of Angel S5's best episodes, including Lineage and Origin.
- Drew Greenberg: Writer of Entropy and The Killer In Me.
- Steven S DeKnight: Writer of Blood Ties and Dead Things. Apparently, he got all the pleasant-sounding episodes. He's also infamous for vigorously insisting that Tara would die "over his dead body" shortly before the airing of "Seeing Red", the episode he penned in which Tara dies. He has yet to live up to his promised sacrifice.
- Doug Petrie: Writer of Bad Girls and Fool For Love.
And of course...
- Joss Whedon: Often referred to by fans as 'boss' or 'god'. He'll be penning the first four issues, an arc titled 'The Long Way Home'. He'll also be overseeing the entire series (which is currently expected to run 20 to 30 issues) and writing the final arc, whenever it comes about.
Georges Jeanty is still the only announced artist for the comic, but 30 issues is a lot for even the most dedicated artist, so I wouldn't be surprised if we saw a few other names pop up at some point. You can see some of his artwork, including the first four pages of Buffy: Season 8, Issue 1 at his
Official Website.
There's also a great interview with Joss regarding his plans for the comic on

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! You've probably already seen the Teaser Trailer, but I highly recommend 'Trailer 2'. It's pretty hot. Speaking of Buffy, Sarah Michelle Gellar has just been cast as the voice of April O'Neil. Other celebrity casting? Chris Evans (Fantastic Four's Johnny Storm/Human Torch has been casted as Kasey Jones. Even hotter than that (pardon the pun), Patrick Stewart has been cast as the villain of the movie, Maxwell Winters. Kevin Smith will also have a cameo as the owner of a greasy spoon.
3. At last weekend's Jump Festa, Tetsuya Nomura promised that there would be an announcement about a new Kingdom Hearts game in mid-2007. Apparently, there are "multiple projects in the works, both games and beyond". Though this isn't a huge surprise due to the popularity of the series, it's always nice to get official confirmation. The only future Kingdom Hearts project we currently have wind of (besides a possible English release of Japan's upcoming
Kingdom Hearts II: Final Mix+) is the proposed KH 'spinoff'
"It's A Wonderful World". "It's A Wonderful World" is a DS touch-action RPG that takes the likenesses of Sora and his posse into a modern day setting.
Unfortunately, none of these projects are likely to be a next-gen 'numbered' sequel (ala Kindom Hearts III), as Nomura and the rest of the Kingdom Hearts II crew will be moving on to develop Final Fantasy versus XIII as soon as they're done with Final Mix+. Still, these are the Japanese... maybe they've found a way to clone themselves? I can only hope.
Okay, that's enough nerdiness, even for me. Though it has certainly given me inspiration for a new layout, should I ever get around to making one.
If I don't update this again before Christmas... hope everyone has a really good one! Except for you. God, how I loathe you. ♥
