In retrospect, perhaps Superboy should have put a little more thought into a full-frontal assault focused at Luthor. Once he smashed some of the armor, a hidden supply of kyrptonite made itself known.

“Argh!” he groaned in pain.

Luthor glared down at his 'son.' “I have no idea how you surpassed the trigger without prior knowledge of its existence, but did you really believe I'd be idiotic enough to not carry kryptonite on my person?” Luthor asked, his heel ground into Kon's now vulnerable skull.

Wonder Girl flew in, knocking Luthor away as Kid Flash zipped by, snatching Superboy as he went. Luthor went to grab for for Wonder Girl's throat, but an arrow hit his hand, freezing his armored hand. Wonder Girl looked back to see Arrowette jumping down from the sky followed by Secret who had been carrying her.

Wonder Girl glared down at Luthor. “You're not going to hurt Kon anymore!” she yelled and kicked him in the stomach, making sure he would not make retort before Arrowette and Secret swooped in, standing together. The three girls grinned, ready to take down Luthor together.

As the girls laid a beat down on Luthor, the rest of the Teen Titans and the Outsiders were trying to handle the rogue Indigo and Brainiac. Nightwing gave orders from a distance with Robin by his side, both knowing they would both only be a liability in a fight against Indigo at this point. Robin only left Nightwing's side to check on Superboy when Kid Flash had zipped by with a barely conscious Superboy. Arsenal and Speedy kept their distance as well, shooting arrows when they got the chance.

Starfire flew in with Thunder, dropping her now six ton heavy body to crush Brainiac. Though, there was some sort of monstrous machine that threw Thunder in the air, knocking Starfire and Jade away from the fight for a moment. The strange machine was still working, but Brainiac seemed down for the count after Thunder's attack.

Beast Boy roared, jumping at the machine as a lion, using his powerful claws to help rip through the metal of the machine. Raven helped make the tears in the metal bigger, so Cyborg could jump and shut down the monstrosity from the inside out. Soon, Cyborg had the machine taken care of and not functioning anymore.

Indigo was a different story. Unlike the machine that could be dismantled, Brainiac who had been smashed into the ground, and even Luthor, she knew the Outsiders inside out and had enough data on the Teen Titans to be able to handle them as well. Indigo threw Grace aside like a rag doll as easily as she dodged the arrows sent her away by Arsenal and Speedy.

If the current pace of battle were to keep up, they would lose. Brainiac seemed out, but he had flown back into the air to join Indigo, somehow bringing his machine with him. They needed to take down them all down now. Nightwing spotted Starfire, calling to her. He demanded she stop holding back. Starfire hesitated before nodding.

“Clear the field,” she said before taking off into the air. “I'll be in the air.”

Nightwing yelled for everyone to run or take cover, just get out of the way as fast as possible. Wonder Girl landed one more punch on Luthor before Secret pulled her away, grabbing Arrowette as well to go for cover. Once everyone had run far enough away, Starfire glowed, bringing great destruction around her with her attack. Luthor watched from the ground, his armor keeping him safe as he cursed the Tamaranean.

Brainiac and his machine were gone, but Indigo was still kicking. Nightwing ordered the fliers to go in. Starfire, Raven, and Jade attacked together, finally causing Indigo's downfall. Shift, who had been watching the battle, too hurt emotionally to fight, quickly went to Indigo's side.

“Kill me,” she begged.

“No, Indy, I-”

“You have to.”

“How can I possibly-”

“You know. It's how I want to be.”

Shift let the tears freely flow down his checks as he pressed his glowing hand against her chest. “I love you,” she said quietly.

“I love you, too,” he answered back as he made her synthetic flesh real, but not alive. “And it's real.”

He clutched her dead body to his chest as he sobbed. The dust was settling and clearing around him, revealing the two teams, battered but mostly not broken. Nightwing made his way across the field as Shift stood to leave. “Shift, are you-”

“I made her human,” Shift interjected as he painfully walked away from Indigo's body.

“What?” Nightwing questioned, not quite understanding what Shift meant.

“I turned everything she was inside...into flesh,” he explained quietly, “but I can't make it alive, so it killed her. ...I killed her.”

With that, Shift left the battlefield while Nightwing contemplated where everything went so terribly wrong.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Luthor had gotten away before the dust had settled, Nightwing quit the Outsiders, leaving on his own, and the Outsiders left the Teen Titans to pick up the pieces of their Tower while the Outsiders picked up the pieces of their team. Robin wanted so badly to run after Nightwing, but he knew that his team should be his first priority.

Robin took a quick survey of his team for injuries. There were not too many injuries, nothing a basic first aid kit could not take care of. What caught his eye was the fact that Wonder Girl had come back near the beginning of the battle. Not only that, but she came back with two members that used to be in Young Justice, Secret and Arrowette.

“Greta, how did you...?” he trailed off, not sure he would like his answer.

Secret smiled, then noticed Robin's look. “Oh no, I'm not dead again or anything!” she announced, causing the Titans that had not been in Young Justice to give her funny looks. “I mean, maybe we should go inside, so I can explain?”

Robin nodded. “First, let's get clean up out of the way.”

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“Man, those puppets sure do get around,” Bart spoke up after Greta finished her explanation.

Kon choked, and Greta giggled “So, these puppets can die?” Tim asked, curiosity getting the better of him. “That really makes them seem more human than they should be.”

Greta nodded. “Yeah, it was kind of weird, watching puppet me die,” she said quietly.

Cissie rubbed Greta's back gently. “Let's not talk about the puppets anymore,” Cissie suggested. “Um, we were wondering-”

“Welcome Secret and Arrowette to the Teen Titans,” Cassie interjected, giving Tim a stern look that said 'just try to say no.'

“Are you sure, Cissie?” Tim questioned, turning his attentions to Cissie. “You've quit before-”

“So have you,” Cassie added, and Tim winced.

“Ah, point, but-” Tim cut himself off when he saw the look in Kon's eyes; he was still not over the fact Tim had left with no warning. “Never mind. Secret, Arrowette, welcome to the Teen Titans.”

“Yahoo!” Greta exclaimed, twirling in the air.

Cassie and Cissie shared a smile as Greta came back down from the air.
