since i have an hour before i even have to think about leaving for class, i'm going to rant a little bit. haha.
so all the dorm areas have a convenience store in them. last year, i lived a mere parking lot away from louie's, which was the saving grace of my nights when the dining commons disappointed. spaghettio's, cereal, soups at hand, stouffers mac and cheese, pizza bagels galore, and that most beautiful of all beverages, the instant milkshake. perhaps i was spoiled. but something tells me, no. no, that is the kind of food i love and thus should be what i am able to have! and now, here i am, in my new dorm. the convenience store here was formerly known as the moxie; it has its little attached coffee bar and sold the typical fare for a college student store: batteries, sodas, prepackaged foods, chips, everything that louie's had, as the stores were fairly uniform. but this year, everything changed! The moxie has been turned into "sisu" and now they only sell natural, organic products.
FUCK THAT SHIT.
haha. but seriously. labelling something organic is basically the same as labelling something $2 more expensive. they only have organic prepackaged foods (fruit and cold, slimy pb&j), organic soda (sparkling jamaican lemonade? what the hell. and it's disgusting too), even organic condoms. Which i don't even know how that works, because latex is latex, isn't it? what the hell. So they only have granola and kashi in the cereal section. i am more of a purveyor of, say, lucky charms and captain crunch. in lieu of pizza bagels, there are "wolfgang puck's prepared pizzas" - which, let it be noted, you can't even make in the microwave. and the only cooking appliance we are allowed to have? is a microwave. Also...they don't even sell batteries. How can you possibly be a convenience store in a residence hall area and not sell batteries. Batteries!!!!
of course to be fair there are some upsides. Half the stuff in there is Newman's Own, which makes me happy because i love paul newman. they also have one of my favorite soups, and my favorite brand of energy bar (though not in the right flavor. even though i first had that flavor here. ????). Not to mention fresh muenster cheese, which is amazing. I just wish it was more of an option, the organic lifestyle, rather than having it foisted forcibly upon me. if i want to destroy my body with terrible cereals and need a pack of batteries, that is my decision and i'm not sure i like penn state interfering! lolz.
meanwhile don't even get me started about how the dining commons breakfast ends at 930.
in other news i would have never believed how disgusting a women's bathroom could get over a three day weekend. what the hell, people.
penn state,

dorms,
