Demon Eyes 3

Disclaimer: I don’t own Dir en grey or anybody when I think really hard…well no. There is my hidden banana-leaf fan boy in my closet…

Author Notes: I’m going to try and get an early start on this. Hopefully I finish before March ends.

When he woke up his entire body was sore. Even before he opened his eyes the unbearable pulse pain in his shoulder screamed at him. His head throbbed with an entirely different sort of pain not to mention the psychological shit piled up for him to think about later.. He groaned, trying to will himself back to unconsciousness, but he was dragged kicking and screaming from the black fog by Die who pushed at his bad shoulder with his foot. Die nudged him insistently, applying pressure through the toe of his foot until the appendage created its own bruise on top of the one already there from the day before.

“ Get up.”

He was bleary-eyed and not entirely conscious of his surroundings, but he forced himself to obey the redhead. If there was any sense of order in his mind, his brain had rearranged it so that Die’s words overrode even his own. So even though he didn’t know why, he forced himself up, and even though he couldn’t quite identify why his body felt like shit, he knew he’d have far worse concerns if he ignored the boy in front of him.

When he sat up the other boy crouched down to his level. He held his chin, tilting his head up and then down as if examining him. He moved his head to the left then the right before dropping his hand and allowing Kyo’s head to drop with it. He gave an unamused snort.

“Pathetic.”

Kyo croaked out. “ I tried to find you. I ran here but you were gone.”

Die moved away, going to sit on his bunk bed.

“ I don’t see why you did. I don’t have anything to do with you.”

His first instinct was to say “to get you to stop those guys!” but he immediately got rid of that idea. Instead he chose to approach the redhead differently, hoping his words would maybe inspire the pity he needed to get back on Die’s good side.

“ I was wrong in disrespecting you and I was wrong to disregard your kindness. I’m really sorry.”

He waited, wanting to get some sort of response from the older boy and was almost relieved when he heard him reply.

“So you came to apologize huh? Does that mean you were able to see just why you need me to not only live, but even just to exist here? Do you understand that you really are nothing and that no one- not another student and definitely not a teacher will help you except for me?”

Kyo nodded along, his ear not hearing half the message, yet his body knew what he was saying. He was scum in this place. No one would help him because they had no reason to. He had no hope of getting out of here sane unless he submitted himself to Die, and knowing that, it was an easy choice to say his next words.

“ I’ll do anything you say. Please. Please I beg you to forgive me for offending you. I didn’t know any better.”

This seemed to catch Die’s attention, because he leaned forward, motioning for Kyo to come over. When Kyo moved to stand, he shook his head.

“On your knees.”

Kyo fought the small surge of pride that bit for him to stand. What good had pride done him? What good would it ever do him if he was too weak to defend it?
So he got onto his hands, his eyes straying dejectedly to the floor, and crawled painstakingly slow to where the redhead sat. When he reached the edge of the bed Die grabbed the scruff of his neck and gave him a hard shake like a puppy that had just pissed on his shoes.

“ Bad dog. Bad!”

He punched into his sore shoulder for emphasis before letting go and letting Kyo collapse. That wasn’t supposed to happen but as soon as his weight was put back on his arms Kyo felt them buckle and he was left laying awkwardly on the floor. He heard Die laugh, getting up and stepping over him to go to a corner on the other side of the room. He patted his leg, signaling for Kyo to come. He had only moved to get Kyo to crawl to him. It seemed Die had a sick sense of humor as well.

When Kyo reached him, he was hit over the head with a magazine harshly.

“When I call you, don’t slow around. You come immediately and as quickly as you can.” Die paused. “ And if you want my forgiveness you’ve got to prove your loyalty. You’ve got to prove that you answer to me and only me.”

Die moved away from the corner, this time going to the door to the room and opening it. “Follow me.” He turned around and walked down the hall, looking back only once to make sure Kyo was crawling desperately behind him as if his life depended on it. Most likely, it really did.

Die forced him to crawl all the way down the long hallway. He made him endure the jeering from passing students as well as the random guys who did their best to trip him down this cold-tiled gauntlet. He grunted when his arms were swept from beneath him, groaning at the round of snickers caused at his expense. Die didn’t look back and hurriedly he forced himself up and back on the trail behind him.

By now his hands had suffered from numerous cuts due to the unforgiving pavement and his knees, already bruised, were now badly scraped as well.

“ Well what do we have here? Daisuke?”

Kyo invited the call for a pause but he also abhorred it. If he stopped he wasn’t sure he’d have the energy to start again or even keep up. Not only that, but the voice which stopped them was somewhat familiar, and every person he’d come in contact with was no one he’d wanted to contact again.

“ Well well if it isn’t the new boy.”

Kyo watched the floor in horror as clean black boots came into his line of sight and meaty legs stood apart arrogantly, waiting for him to look up. His eyes shot to Die, his fear heightening when he found a smirk on the other boy’s face. This was not looking very good at all.

“Daisuke can you tell me why this boy is crawlin here on his hands and knees like some dog?”

Kyo barely managed to make himself look at the man’s face. His hopes were even further crushed by the amusement he caught in the man’s eyes. Even the principal it seemed cared little about the students in his charge.

“No sir. He followed me like that but I don’t know why. I figured he just liked to go around like that.”

The principal nodded solemnly as if he really believed what was being said and Die kept up his innocent act. The big man looked at him with a raised brow.

“ Is that right kid? You like crawling around after him?”

His voice shook as he forced the lie.

“ Y-yes sir.”

“ Wow you country boys really are stupid. Do you lick your own balls too?” He laughed.

Kyo shook his head but before he could open his mouth to respond properly, Die spoke for him.

“ Oh no but he licks other people’s balls sir.”

Kyo fought the sudden sting of tears and simply kept his head bowed as the principal spoke.

“ One of them fags huh? Not surprised..” He tsked and took a step away from him. Die continued.

“ Ah sir I have to get going. I told Toshiya I’d meet him in a few minutes.”

The older man nodded, looking once more at Kyo.

“ Oh sorry. Don’t let me detour you too much. Before you go though, I need to reprimand your little friend here.”

“ He did something?”

“ He skipped his first day of classes. I got a report from each one of his teachers.” He glared at Kyo. “Got anything to say about that Mr. Badass?”

Again he resisted the temptation to tell what had happened. He wasn’t stupid. One, he couldn’t say anything that would incriminate anyone, especially Die. Two, he couldn’t trust this man. Three, he didn’t need anything to make him look weaker than he already was. Reassuring himself with this reasoning, he was able to tell the lie he’d have to if he wanted to meet Die’s approval.

“I got homesick and didn’t feel well at all, so I thought it’d be okay if I napped through the day so I could go to class and do my best tomorrow.”

The other man snorted and sneered down disgustedly at him.

“A fag and a brown-nose? What the hell kinda weasel are you?”

Die finally stepped forward. “He’s no weasel sir. Dumb, but he’s not a weasel.”

“ Is that so? Well I’ll leave him to you Daisuke. You seem to be a good influence.”

“ Thanks sir.”

“ Oh and new boy. You have a week of detention. Don’t let me hear of you skipping again.”

Kyo bowed his head, nodding while keeping his eyes on the steel tips of the boots. His body was tense and he refused to look up until the man had walked away and even his footsteps could no longer be heard. He could feel the stares of the other students who had walked by and stopped to watch the exchange.

His face heated when Die walked back to where he was, and with a surprisingly gentle hand, lifted his face. His hand, which was almost comfortingly warm, cupped his cheek almost fondly before moving to his hair where his scalp was scratched briefly. Die ended the touch with a quick pat on the head.

“ Good boy. Come on.”

This time Die moved at a slower pace, staying somewhat closer so that the passing students made sure to keep their distance. This time the crawl was bearable, and he found he even had the time to notice that not only were they circling the dorm but that they were approaching his former room which most likely held his former roommate, Toshiya.

Said boy was currently leaning on the doorframe, looking for all the world bored despite noticing his and Die’s approach. When they were close enough Toshiya opened the door and stepped inside.

“It’s about time. Damn, how long can you walk him?”

Die shrugged, shutting the door and moving to where his bed used to be. He sat down without asking.

“For as long as I feel like it. Why? Does it bother you to see what you gave away?”

Toshiya rolled his eyes, though the huffy way he did it made Kyo suspect he indeed regretted giving him to Die. Kyo stayed near the door, unsure of just what he was allowed to do now. He’d pleased Die, but that was only once. He was pretty sure he wasn’t off the hook yet.

“Get over yourself Die, or do you forget that I have something else you want?”

Kyo’s eyes went to Die since Toshiya seemed to have delved into code. Die simply raised an eyebrow, lying back on the bed.

“ Not for long you won’t.”

Toshiya didn’t look worried, but he did look miffed. His eyes cut over to Kyo, but they didn’t stay there long. Instead the slid over Die’s form. Kyo watched through the fray of his black bangs as Toshiya sauntered over to the bed. The tall boy crawled onto the mattress, straddling the redhead who lay prone there.

“You sure about that Dai Dai?”

The taller boy practically purred the words, but Die had no problem pushing him to the side.

“Get off of me. I’m sure.”

Toshiya’s eyes narrowed and this time his stare concentrated on Kyo. Kyo felt himself stiffen almost automatically and he regretted instantly he stayed in front of the door where he couldn’t scoot back. He could only watch as Toshiya approached him, a sly smile on his lips. The other boy knelt in front of him, bringing his head up roughly so that it could be on level with his.

“Kiss me ne. You want to don’t you?”

He wanted to say ‘you’re joking right?’ but again, that wouldn’t be smart. It didn’t matter because Toshiya was an impatient guy, and simply leaned in to touch lips with him before he could speak. After the first contact Toshiya yanked his shoulder, making him surge forward against him. Their lips were pushed against one another’s and Toshiya was steadily easing his mouth open. He however could only concentrate on the deep throbbing in his shoulder as well as the fact that Die had not moved.

The longer he looked at Die, the more he suspected he shouldn’t be letting Toshiya kiss him. He tried to recall a previous conversation where the topic came up, but his mind refused to work while Toshiya’s lips pushed so seductively against his own.

Toshiya pulled away only when they were both lacking breath, but when he moved to continue the kiss, Kyo turned his head. His breath came out unevenly as he struggled to keep his lips away from Toshiya’s; not even daring to look the other boy in the eye.

“I’m sorry Toshiya-san but I don’t think this is right. I can’t really remember when he said it, but I’m sure Die-san doesn’t want me to kiss you.”

“So you’re saying you’re too good to kiss me?” As Toshiya accused him he looked despairingly at Die who was still lying in the same spot as when he’d first laid down.

Die apparently wasn’t going to give him any help.

“ I-it’s not that at all! Just that I’m too low for you to waste putting your mouth on, and also I…”

“ You?”

“ I belong to Die-san and I cannot disrespect him by offering my lips to someone else.”

“ Oh? So you’re Die’s bitch now?”

“ No! I mean no, I’m just a lowly dog.”

Toshiya whistled, laughing slightly before getting up. He walked back over to the bed, punching Die in the shoulder with another laugh.

“Get up you jerk. Okay okay so you were right. You trained him, shit. That’s another twenty bucks. You’re running me poor over here.”

Toshiya grinned as Die sat up with a similar look on his face. He laughed and got up.

“Pay up or shut up as I always say.”

“Yeah yeah. I’ll give it to you next week. I already paid you back for something this week.”

Die waved him off in favor of walking over to Kyo, his eyes genuinely pleased. This time he ran a finger lightly over the back of his ear, scratching softly at the shell.

“Good boy Kyo. You may now have my forgiveness.”

Die held out his hand expectantly, and seeing as it was right in front of his face, he could guess he was supposed to kiss it. He did so, relieved when Die took it back without complaint. He was taken from his brief respite by the redhead however, who motioned for Toshiya to come closer. Die turned to him.

“You have my forgiveness, and now you must earn my trust. That’s not going to be easy, though the first step to doing so is by proving your loyalty. Can you do that?”

“Yes. Anything.”

Die seemed satisfied with that answer and motioned for Toshiya to come even closer. The beautiful boy knelt beside him, something metallic gripped tightly in his hand. Toshiya paused, giving Die a moment to speak.

“Kyo I’m going to give you three piercings. Consider them your marks. Two will be red, showing you’re under my command and warning everyone that you are not to be messed with. The third one will be a white diamond which shows your status as a dog.. You will always only have three piercings in your ear, and depending your rank they go from all red, to a mix, to all white.”

“How are you going to pierce my ears?”

He suddenly heard the uninviting clink of the clamp in Toshiya’s hand. Toshiya opened and closed the jaw of it a few more times more to scare Kyo than anything. It indeed worked, because it took all of Kyo’s will not to beg for a different test once he caught sight of the main needle that would be pushed through his earlobe. He tried to question Die once again.

“Are you going to put in all three at once? Are you going to be the one who does it or Toshiya?”

Die shrugged, picking up one of the earrings that would go into his ear.

“Trust me; you don’t want Toshiya sticking anything in you.”

Die opened a bag of what Kyo could see was disinfectant and rubbed down both the needles and the clamp he’d be using. He moved closer to Kyo, his hand resting lightly on the other boy’s back.

“Lay on your stomach.”

Nervously, Kyo did as he was told, the hairs on his body bristling at the sudden coldness from the floor.

“The left side is for bitches and the right is for weasels. Which side do you want me to pierce?”

“What do you mean?”

“Right now you’re neither, but eventually you’ll move up in rank if you do what you’re supposed to. Which will you become?”

Though the question was posed as if Kyo had a choice, he could distinctly remember Die telling the principal that he was not a weasel just minutes before. Was it a test or was Die being genuine? Either way, he knew his answer. Die had not outright said it, but from the hints he got it seemed a weasel was not a favorable person. The principal didn’t like them and Die didn’t seem to either.

“My left please.”

“Why?”

Kyo resisted the urge to shrug. It was a bad habit he was very close to picking back up from Die.

“I-I think it would please you more if I was…a bitch.”

Toshiya snickered but Die shot him a look to make him quiet.

“Is that the truth? You chose that for me?”

“Yes.”

“That’s pretty presumptuous of you. How do you know what I do and don’t like?”

“I don’t, but I’m learning, and weasels seem to displease you.”

Toshiya shook his head, his eyes showing that he was somewhat impressed.

“Only you Die. You’re the only guy I know who can train someone so quickly. I should learn from you.”

“You should and maybe then you’d have more people under you.”

“Mmh so you always say.”

Toshiya watched with mild interest as Die took up the clamps and the needle with the ring on it. He moved Kyo’s head so that the left side of his face was visible and quickly clamped down on the lower part of his lobe. Kyo went white, his body rigid as he tried to concentrate on anything or anyone besides the thin needle in his ear.

Once Die had securely put one ring into his ear Kyo finally allowed himself a hiss of pain before returning to his self-induced silence. It was his philosophy that the more pain you showed the more pain the other person wanted to see.

He lay prone once more, only flinching when he felt Die’s hands approach his face once more. He was surprised to see Toshiya lay in front of him, his eyes level to his own.

“Want to know something?”

He drew a breath as Die clamped the second one in and managed to push out a “yes” to Toshiya. Die’s hand held his head in place as he prepared to put in the third one. Toshiya was being weird. He held Kyo’s gaze, and for once, the boy looked entirely serious about what he was going to say.

“Those are my old earrings you’re wearing.”

Kyo’s eyes widened as the last ring was pushed in and he was left with an overwhelming burning sensation in his ear. Even so, he tried to comprehend what Toshiya just said. These were his earrings? As in he bought them or as in he wore them? He didn’t dare ask, and only watched as Toshiya got up and moved away to the other side of the room, his mischievous nature returning.

Die stood as well, walking over to Toshiya’s dresser and opening a small wooden box on top. He rummaged through the box for a moment, his eyes searching for whatever it was that was supposed to be there. His face eased into a smile however when his hand brought out a black collar, most likely made of leather. Die held it up to the light, examining it with a fond smile.

“You kept it in good condition Tosh.”

“Yeah yeah.”

Toshiya waved the words off and looked expectantly at Kyo. Kyo remained where he was, unsure, until Die turned and signaled for him to crawl over. He did so, not surprised when Die bent to put the collar around his neck. Die’s fingers brushed over the leather once he’d fastened it, his eyes seemingly attached to the thing.

Toshiya spoke up softly, another first. “ It says Daisuke. It was his before it was mine. Take care of it.”

“Lose it and you lose any association with me.” Die spoke harshly though he did nothing particularly threatening to emphasize his point, something Kyo appreciated.

“I won’t.”

Die was satisfied with that and stood back up to stretch.

“We have to get going Tosh. Dinner will be soon.”

Toshiya nodded and opened the door to escort them out. Die stepped out of the room and Kyo moved to crawl behind him, but Die stopped him.

“You’ve been exceptionally good today, so you may walk on your legs now.”

“ Th-thank you.”

He stumbled over his words, unsure of how grateful he could allow himself to sound. His shoulder had been killing him as well as his hands and knees. He could barely keep the smile of relief that wanted to reach his lips, and was thankful Die turned around and started walking down the hallway. He quickly scampered to his feet and followed close on his heels. It had only been two days, yet somehow he felt so much had happened and he’d changed.
