Well for those of you who don't know my baby Jason Giambi has been out for what seams forever because he has been sick. They could not find out what was wrong with him and there was talk of getting a new first basemen and everything, they even tested him for cancer :-/ But it turns out that Giambi has a tumor and should be back soon. Bad thing is he is on the 15 Day DL and cant play till the 8th of Aug. My game is the 7th. So I wont see Giambi and im pretty sad about that, but atleast he is going to be ok. I'm still going to wear my Giambi shirt and I may even make a sign that says "We miss Giambi!" or something lol I'm lame like that. So I'm happy he is going to be ok but sad he wont be playing at my game. Maybe he will be on the bench who knows.Well I'm off for now. later.

NEW YORK -- The Yankees placed Jason Giambi on the 15-day disabled list Friday with what they called a benign tumor.
Giambi, who was not at Yankee Stadium for a second consecutive day, will undergo an unspecified treatment, and the Yankees expect him to return to the field this season. Giambi's DL stint is retroactive to July 24, making him eligible to return after August 8.
"The testing has not revealed the presence of any infectious disease," said Dr. Stuart Hershon, the team physician, in a statement released by the club. "The Yankees expect that, with appropriate treatment, he will rejoin the team as soon as possible."
"We are thankful that our doctors have determined what has been ailing Jason and that we know it is something that can be treated easily and quickly," said general manager Brian Cashman in the statement. "I speak for everyone at the Yankees when I say that we look forward to seeing Jason back on the field in the near future."
Giambi has battled what was believed to be an intestinal parasite for the past month, feeling exhausted and sluggish on a daily basis. Cashman said that the tumor, of which he would not reveal the specific location, was the reason that Giambi had felt so bad, not the parasite.
"First, I would like to thank the Yankees and the team of doctors who spent so much time and effort in helping me," said Giambi in a statement. "I am relieved that they found something that is treatable and I look forward to getting well, coming back strong and helping the Yankees win. I would also like to thank Joe Torre, the entire staff and my teammates for their understanding, support and encouragement during this time."
Torre said that he didn't believe that Giambi would require surgery, but neither Cashman nor Dr. Hershon would confirm that.
"We're pleased that he's going to be all right," said Torre, who informed Giambi's teammates of the news after Friday's game. "That's the best news we've had in weeks about him. We know it's treatable, and we know he'll be back playing with us."
To replace Giambi on the roster, the Yankees recalled outfielder Bubba Crosby from Triple-A Columbus. With Giambi expected to return to action this season, Tony Clark will continue to serve as the starting first baseman, while Miguel Cairo will be his backup.
Cashman said that he has no plans to pursue another first baseman at this time as a result of the latest news. Thursday, Cashman acknowledged that he had been in contact with the agents for both John Olerud and Fred McGriff, two veteran first basemen currently without jobs in the Majors.
"He's going to come back," Cashman said. "We feel certain about that, so from a baseball standpoint, we're happy. If we wind up doing anything, it won't be because there's a need all of a sudden."
Giambi will not be with his team over the weekend, as he will remain home and undergo his treatment. Cashman spoke with Giambi several times, reporting that the first baseman was pleased with the findings.
"His spirits are high," Cashman said. "This has been a tough road for him, and he's happy to know what's going on now and that it's correctable."
Looks like everything is going to be ok =)
