Under the guise of Lent

Well,

1st day of Lent today in the Ukrainian Catholic tradition.  Not that I am very "catholic" anymore, this gives me an opportunity to try something I have been thinking of for the last year or so.  I haven't been able to do it because my father and brother call me an idiot and say I will make myself sick.

Starting today, and for the next 40 days, I am going to try my damndest to be vegan.  I don't think this will be too too hard as supermarkets and restaurants are now packed with vegan alternatives.  The only thing I worry about is ingredients in other kinds of food.  For instance a pre-packaged meal may have egg or dairy ingredients in it despite being labelled vegetarian.  So I will need to be careful.

My only concern is that I may not get enough B12, Calcium and other vitamins, so I will have to watch out for that.

My main interest in going vegan is the alleged health benefits.  I've seen some enormous fat vegetarians, but not really any fat vegans.  I will try it for 40 days, and if I like it, I may make it permanent to some degree.

If I say I am doing it for Lent I will be above the scrutiny of my father.  I am kind of excited to try this out and see what kind of results I get.  This probably won't be easy, but  I want to see what happens.

Any interesting test may be to go to my doctor and get my blood pressure and cholesterol tested now vs. after the 40 days.
