東京事変 live tour 2010 ウルトラＣ＠東京国際フォーラム (5.11.2010)
The long awaited....TOKYO JIHEN CONCERT!!
Took the day off to head off to Tokyo, just to see the concert. ..and it was totally worth it. The music was amazing!!! Below is the set list. I wish I could have heard some of my other favorites, like "化粧直し" and "ブラックアウト." But I'm still really happy about getting to see them live in general...and besides stuff from their new album, they also performed songs like "修羅場" and "キラーチューン"...but most of most of all, they played my most favorite of favorite Tokyo Jihen song, "遭難"!! The transition from "Zettai Zetsumei" to "Sounan" was seriously GENIUS.

But...it was so short DD: The concert started at 7pm, but it finished before 9pm?!!! Once they came out, they just KEPT playing through the set list, with NO breaks, NO MCs. I wasn't expecting any speeches or anything, but as one Japanese blog reviewer put it "we got less than 30 seconds of conversation from Shiina Ringo, and absolutely NOTHING from any of the other band members." I think I was most disappointed when there was one water break where the fans were totally screaming...and then the ENTIRE hall became so quiet that you could hear a pin drop (really!) as if to cue the band to say SOMETHING...they started playing again.
I do partially feel that I owe Tokyo Jihen some respect for their stamina, to have totally plowed through the set list, no breaks - except of course for the encore, but that break was probably less than 5 min. And of course everyone came for the music, for the performance. And I have absolutely nothing to complain about that. But even one full sentence would have more than enough fan service to satisfy the crowd.
...Needless to say, I am a little bit more than put off by the total lack of interaction D:. But I got to see Shiina Ringo (as hot as ever! <3) and Tokyo Jihen live, so I'll grit my teeth and just pray that I get to see them live again...SOON. And that hopefully next time they'll be feeling a little more social.
In other words, Shiina was totally rocking a blonde bombshell bob. While I am still determined to grow out my hair so I can't cut it, I AM reaaaaaaaaally tempted to dye it blonde just like her!!!
