Friday was a hard day for Marvel fans. Most of us didn't even know Chadwick Boseman was sick. He filmed all those movies while battling colon cancer. It's just... I dunno... Surprising. He was such a strong spirit to solider through like that.
He was in so many movies but to us he was Black Panther. Chadwick Boseman brought something special to T'Challa. It's kinda of like being an actor with such a lengthy catalogue but the world knows you for one thing. Yeah, he has quite the catalogue but for me, I see T'Challa.
Honestly, I would prefer it if Marvel were to retire his character. For me, it would cheapen his legacy to drag in a replacement then move forward as if he was never there. I would not be okay with that at all. As a black nerd, the life he breathed into T'Challa could never be matched and it would feel wrong to try. I just wouldn't be here for it. I know Disney has to make their coin but, do it elsewhere. Not with this.
Shea's verse on "I'm In Love" will make me smile a little differently now.
Thank you Chadwick. I appreciate you for what you gave not only black nerds, but for what you gave me.
