This movie... Dude, I've gotta get this book! It's called "The Perks of Being A Wallflower". Yes, I was supposed to read the book before watching the movie but, if the book even touches half of what this movie is, it is quite possibly the best literary work of this time. My favorite character is Patrick and not just because he's a beautiful cup of gay awesomeness. Patrick is what I wish everyone was. Just himself. No apologies, no regrets. He's like, a gayer Brian Kinney. He doesn't try to be who he thinks people want. He is who is and it's a source of pride. That, in itself, lets me know whoever created this character, has enough creative integrity to craft someone who's meaning can reach beneath the skin.
At some point, he asks: "Haven't you ever heard a song that no matter what you're doing, when you hear it, you think, This is who I am?" At 1st, I was like: "No." The 2nd time I watched this, I realized I was wrong. "Hotblack" by Oceanship helped me out so much when I went dark. Without that song, I have a weird inkling that I might've hung myself. No, I don't like to think of myself that way but, it's the truth. So yes, there is a song for me and it's that one.
This movie is beautiful so I just know the book will be good, if not better. I want to know everything about it. So I'm gonna go find it.
