tv ramblings

It feels like I haven't posted in an age but it's only been less than 2 weeks.

Eric & Danielle won?  Seriously?  Worst. Winners. EVER.  Of the final 3, I was pulling for the Beauty Queens (which was a strange feeling as I did not like them on their first race).  I'm glad that this season is finally over cause my ears just couldn't handle the screeching of Mirna anymore.  I so wanted to Danny & Oswald to win but they graciously bowed out in 4th -- until they praised Mirna & Charla.  WTF?

Phil was actually in Toronto for a book signing a couple of weeks ago.  I came thisclose to going but alas, I couldn't make it downtown that day.

I was late to the GG love but I'm glad I was there at the end.  I thought the finale (& the ep before) was really well done -- certain storylines had closure and it was a good point to the end the series, with Rory graduating and off into the work world.  All the residents of Stars Hollow had their moment (although Mrs Kim was missed).  Loved the Rory/Lane convo.  The look Lane was shooting at Zach when he tried to hurry them up was perfect.  Lorelai realizing that Emily was worried about losing contact with her and agreeing that the FNDs would continue  (sidenote:  I caught a bit of Dirty Dancing over the weekend and realized that Baby's mother = Emily Gilmore!  I didn't know that.)  Lorelai wearing the necklace Luke bought for her.  The last shot of the girls in Luke's Diner had me all sniffling.

Oh, Winchester boys.  My heart just can't take it no more.  Although, was it just me, or could that ep have been a series finale instead of a season finale?  And while I know Dean's "We've got work to do" is a callback to the pilot, it actually reminded me of Angel's last line, "Let's get to work."

Dean/JA kicked it out of the park.  His monologue by Sam's side.  The tears!  The making-a-deal-with-the-Crossroads-demon was so obvious but whatever.  Sam "waking up" and his realization that (a) he was dead and (b) Dean made a deal to bring him back was perfect.  I am so glad Sam found out about the deal right away, no dragging it out for half a season.  Bobby was just awesome.  The look on his face when the boys showed up at his door and then ripping Dean a new one for what he did.  Just awesome.  So glad Daddy Winchester was part of the final fight but no lines?  Just disappeared into the white light with meaningful looks to his sons.  They couldn't have say something?  Anything?

I'm also really glad that the Yellow-Eyed Demon arc is finished.  Finally.  There's still a lot of questions (did Sam come back slightly wrong?  Will he someday give into his abilities the way Jake & Ava did?) and there will be fallout from Dean's deal but that's what S3 is for.  Yea, this finale was anti-climatic but it's good that this chapter of the boys' lives -- avenging their mother's death -- is now done.  They have a new mission now.

I downloaded the first ep of BBC's Robin Hood last night.  I really enjoyed it so yay for finding another show to distract me with.  Besides, I'm a sucker for good bow-and-arrow action.   The eps were all uploaded to Megaupload so I'm running into the download limits.  Argh.  At this rate, I'll only be able to download 3 or 4 eps a day.  Oh well, at least this will force me to watch the eps at a slower pace.  Not like watching all 13 eps of Torchwood in 2 days!

Next week:  the finale for Heroes and 24.  Can't wait.

In other RL news:

The biospy came back negative.  No cancer  *whew*  What's been happening is inflammation (the technical term was too long to remember).  My body has decided that my thyroid is evil so the white blood cells have been attacking it.  As of now, we're back in the "wait and see" mode.  If it continues, I'll have hypothyroidism which usually means taking pills.

Spiderman 3 was a bit of a disappointment.  It dragged in certain places, making me feel all 139 minutes of the movie.  I really liked Topher Grace/Venom and wished more time was spent on that character instead of having 3 villians.  Shrek 3 is out today but I don' t know if I'll spend the $11 to see it in the theatres.  Next week is Pirates 3 which I'm looking forward to even though #2 wasn't that great.   It's the summer of the sequels, that's for sure.

This weekend is Victoria Day weekend which means we get Monday off, yippee!!  Between
faninohio's visit and family stuff and trying to finish my move into the condo, it'll be a busy weekend for me.  But it'll be a good busy.
