Summary: Police officer Kim Jonghyun's life was turned upside down by the mysterious murders conducted in his area of Seoul, and by the fact that there were absolutely no leads pointing towards any killers. Or at least--any human killers. Jonghyun struggles with himself as he realizes that he might as well be insane for the he is the only one how could ever believe...In vampires. Meanwhile, if the doubts of his own sanity trouble his mind weren't enough to drive him offically insane, the fact that his college boyfriend Kim Kibum suddenly returns home to Korea from America, holding a secert of his own may be enough to do it.

The smell of blood was so strong, fresh and near that it made Kibum growl with hunger. Not to mention, he smelt him again. That familiar smell he had smelt back at the airport before Jonghyun came, and he knew that he could smell him too. He knew that the other vampire knew that he knew that he was there. Was he following him? Worse yet-was he following Jonghyun? Did the sick bastard really want to hurt his Jonghyun? He wouldn’t allow it. He growled lowly before glancing back at the dumb and happy sleepy Jonghyun, still drooling, exhausted and satisfied from previous activities. Kibum half smiled at his beloved idiot before running a thumb under Jonghyun’s cheek, then rising from the bed. He was going to find that other vampire before he found Jonghyun. He was looking for them, there was no other reason why he would be so close otherwise. He slipped on his jeans and Jonghyun’s police jacket before glancing over his shoulder one more time at Jonghyun.
“I’ll be back soon.” He promised.

Onew glanced up quickly from where he was allowing Taemin to drink from, upon catching a familiar scent coming closer. “Oh…look who came to join us. Got hungry, did we? Tired of trying not to bite into that delicious little officer of yours?” He asked, smirking contently as he knew the presence of the one he had smelt had come close enough to hear him.
Taemin glanced up from where he was eating and ran his wrist across his chin to clean his mouth. He didn’t even have to ask who the older vampire had been talking two before he smelt him too, and there was the soft thudding of Kibum’s feet landing sturdily on the ground from on top of the building he had been standing on to keep a watch on the other two before approaching, Kibum landing as easily as a cat leaping from a branch from the eight story building. “Vampire-Hyung!! You found us!” Taemin cheered happily.
Kibum stood up from the stance he had taken when he landed from jumping off the building before quickly scanning his eyes over Taemin once or twice, before finally turning his cat-like eyes sharply onto Onew, glaring through the dark at him furiously. “You. You’re the one who’s been following us. Don’t lie-I can smell it if you do-you’re here on purpose, and you’ve hunted this close to where you knew I was in order to lure me out to you, or at least make me aware of your appearance. You think that it’s really okay by me if you hunt so close to his apartment? If you wanted for me to come to you, here I am, but you stay away from Jonghyun from now on. I don’t want such a cold-blooded creature being this near to him. Stop following us now-I’m here, so do what you want, just leave Jonghyun alone.” He stated boldly, even though as he spoke he realized how much older and strong vampire was, and began to feel a little nervous for rough-talking him.
Taemin dropped his huge smile, his face turning a little sour like he had just sucked on a lemon with Kibum’s rude words, before pouting unhappily. “Aigo, Vampire-Hyung sure isn’t very friendly. I was even going to ask if you wanted to eat dinner with us…but I don’t think you like us very much, Hyung. You’re so mean.” He whined, after a moment.
Onew, however, only shrugged Kibum’s threat off, before chuckling. “Oh dear, you seem to have confused my intention, Little Brother. Of course I want to see and talk to you-you’re a new Brother of Blood in Seoul, and a very attractive and interesting one at that-” He stopped for a moment as he noticed how Kibum snorted and flicked his hair behind his ear, looking away from him as he added “attractive”, but continued on after a moment. “-but, really, what do you think I would want another vampire for? As you can see, I’ve already created enough work for myself with my newborn. Besides, about hunting here-you know how often newborns get hungry, and how vicious they get if they don’t drink enough blood, I had to feed my newborn.” He added.
Kibum snorted and glared daggers at Onew angrily. “That’s not all you wanted by hunting here! You hide things from your sentence; I can smell it in your breath. Don’t think I’m so young and stupid as not to be able to be able to do that. You’ve followed Jonghyun and me from the airport, haven’t you? Have you been watching us? I know you’ve hunted here to draw me out, so just hurry up and tell me what you want from us!” He spat venomously.
Onew chuckled again at the amusing Kibum before nodding and sticking his hands in his large black jacket’s pockets. “Okay. Cool it, Little Brother, let’s not bite each other’s necks out here. It’s true. We were the ones at the airport that you smelt. And we just happened to be in this side of town, so I figured I could just feed my newborn here, and, yes, I did know that the smell of blood would draw you out here and distract you from your delicious little human, but you see, as much as humans are nothing but deliciousness to us, we didn’t want you to just empty out the officer and leave him dead there. You see, he’s our toy. There would be no fun on our part if we just let you drink him dry and not at least share with us.” He added, smirking.
Kibum’s face grew furious as he heard Onew’s words, and clenched his long, extending fangs in order to stop himself from losing himself as he growled at the older vampire possessively. “What do you want with Jonghyun!? He’s not a toy-you can’t just play with him until you get bored! What do you want with him!?” He hissed angrily, stepping forwards towards the obviously strong vampire, forgetting about his fear to defend the one that he loved.
Onew laughed at this contently. “Aw now, don’t get your panties in a bunch, Little Brother. We just want to play with your little mortal-he’s fun. He started probing at us, anyway. We’re just playing back. You see, he’s especially fun because he’s a police officer whose only interested in our cases. The only human we have ever come across that’s so brilliantly insane that he might even be smart enough to suspect us behind all these said ‘mysterious’ murders that have been happening all around this part of Seoul. We want to see how hard we can drive him, how far he’s willing to go-if he’ll even go as far as being sent to the mental hospital for believing in something as insane as ‘vampires’. Heh, maybe after he admits he’s insane, we’ll show ourselves and then we’ll drink him, but until that time-we just really want to play with him. We’re not following you, we’re following your human. And we have been for the last few months.” He answered, evilly.
At this, Kibum lost it and his fangs jetted out before he quickly came at Onew, forgetting whatever fear he might have ever still possessed. “DON’T YOU TOUCH HIM!” He yelled furiously. “Don’t you EVER lay one of your dirty, bloody claws on him, or I’ll rip your neck out! You stay away from Jonghyun, or I swear I will do it!” He lunched forwards fearlessly at this, forgetting about how much stronger vampires got with age, and how the vampire in front of him was at least a couple hundred years older than himself.
However, Onew only chuckled at Kibum as he lurched forwards, contently and almost dotingly as he might have if Kibum had been a small puppy; growling and yipping in vicious little squeaks at the tires of a parked car. “Aww, you’re so brave and protective. You’re so cute. You want to protect your human-it’s endearing, really.” He answered, dotingly.
Kibum growled as his threat was ran over the shoulder by both of the other vampires, and was only forced to shut-up due to the uncomfortable closeness of the newborn as the kid ran up to him and began sniffing him, a large smile panted across his face. “Wahh!! Hyung, smell! Vampire-Hyung smells so strong of love for and of Officer-Hyung! Wahh, it’s so strong, and smells so good! They must really love each other a lot!!!” He sang happily. Kibum wanted to growl at the newborn to give him his personal-space again, but couldn’t, for he was saying the truth. He could only glance down and listen to what the oldest vampire had to say.
Onew smiled proudly at his newborn before patting Taemin’s head gently. “That’s right, Tae. You can smell people’s emotions well already. For you age, this is good. I am proud.” He said to Taemin (getting a huge Taemin grin from the younger), before glancing back towards Kibum and smirking again. “It does smell like our Brother here does have some sort of emotion that he feels is love for the officer-at least, he wishes it was love.” He taunted, getting a growl from Kibum, but continued. “However, what our Brother needs to understand is that love is something humans have, and vampires do not. What he needs to come to terms with is that he is no longer human and will never be again. He can’t love anyone. Especially not a human. Sooner or later, he’ll realize that this ‘love’ feeling he has for the officer will only turn against him and make him crave him more and more. He may think his little performance twenty minutes ago was impressive because he only made the officer bleed once, but sooner or later, if he ever lets himself go more, and when he’s really thirsty again, those pre-vampire relationships will disappear and won’t matter anymore. Officer is human. Officer Kim Jonghyun is food. He’ll understand this the hard way sooner or later.” He answered.
Kibum could only growl lowly and furiously at this because he knew that he couldn’t physically take on the older vampire at this state. All he could do at that time was growl and snarl at Onew, just imaging ripping off his head. Suddenly, he found the newborn’s nose against Jonghyun’s police jacket that he was wearing, and he quickly looked away from the oldest vampire to hiss at the kid for once again invading his space. However, Taemin only smiled happily at the smell as if it was his favorite candy and rubbed his cheeks as he backed away again. “Wahhh, Vampire-Hyung, you really smell like Officer-Hyung!! Aigo, it smells soooo good!!! How can you stand to be next to something so yummy without eating it?? Officer-Hyung smells like a mix between brownies and mocha-coffee! It smells soooo yummy! How do you resist?” He asked, smiling happily like it was the most innocent thing to ask.
Kibum ran his front teeth over his bottom lip furiously, and growled lowly to make the younger back off. “I’ll never hurt Jonghyun, nor will I ever allow you to hurt him either! If either of you ever try doing anything to him, I swear that I’ll rip your throat out, I assure you of that!” He snapped, staring intensely at Onew. “So you better keep yourself and your newborn away from me and Jonghyun-I’m not your brother of any kind!! I might not still be human, but I’m at least still humane. You two-leaving this human out in the alley once you’re done eating her-you no longer have any traces of your humanity. You keep away from Jonghyun and I. If I find out that you’ve touched a single hair on his head, I’ll kill you!!” He snapped quickly, and venomously.
Taemin backed away from him slowly and swallowed before glancing over at Onew for a response. Onew, however, just looked as pleased and doting as before when Kibum threatened them. “Aigo, you’re courageous and cute, Little Brother. I like your bravery, truly. It’s very endearing. But what you need to remember is that you just aren’t a human anymore, and therefore can no longer live a human life. There’s no way that we’re going to stop toying with the officer now, anyway. You added to the mix just makes it so much more interesting. But, be careful, at this rate, we’re only going to tire and rid of him sooner, because really, you are just so much more interesting. You may drink blood to survive, but don’t be so thirsty for ours. Whether you want it or not, we’re still your brothers, even if you don’t accept it.” He said, smiling.
Kibum grimaced at the semi-affectionate phrase of “brothers”, before turning away from them the best he could and tried to continue his cool and cold side. “Whatever. Just be smart and keep your dirty claws off of Jonghyun, okay? Maybe then I could just pretend you don’t exist and go on with life without you.” He answered, harshly.
Taemin pouted at the rudeness of his new hyung, but Onew only kept his smile as he watched Kibum’s back. “You’re very brave, you know? Don’t you know who you are threatening? For being such a young and weak newbie still, you are either really admirably brave, or just really stupid. Either way, since you’re really cute, I think that it’s cute. Just you need to understand who you are, and who I am, Little Brother. Don’t push your luck. You don’t understand who you’re talking to like that, don’t forget that, because I can just put an end to that little act as easily as snapping my fingers.” Onew threatened, after a moment.
Kibum froze dead in his tracks and swallowed as he heard Onew’s cold and chilly voice behind him. For the first time, he began to think as Onew’s words sank into him, and brought him back to his senses. He shivered, but had to stand his ground the best he could and stay strong. Protecting Jonghyun was most important at that point in time. He could stress about his own safety another time, couldn’t he? He sighed before trying his best to brush it off his shoulder again, and flipped the birdy at the threatening Onew as the easiest way to show his complete disrespect for the elder. “Whatever. You don’t scare me.” He answered, before glancing back towards the empty furniture building that lead back towards Jonghyun’s apartment. “Night, boys.” He added, before leaping back up onto it.
Taemin formed a quick and cute ‘o’ with his lips as Kibum flipped them off before leaving, before quickly glanced back at Onew as he was gone, and he and Onew were alone once more. Onew only had a doting smile on his face again. “O-Onew-hyung? Vampire-Hyung really loves Officer-Hyung a lot, and hates us a lot for playing with him like we are. His love seems so true…can he really love Officer-Hyung like that, and not hurt him just because he’s a human still? When you turned me, you said that I wasn’t allowed to go home anymore because I’d end up hurting my friends and family, even if I didn’t want to. You explained that as part of new vampirism that I wouldn’t have any say in it, and I would end up like that no matter what I felt for them….isn’t that the same with Vampire-Hyung? Do you think that if Vampire-Hyung really can’t live with humans and Officer-Hyung anymore, do you think he’ll ever come to us? Could he stay with us if he did?” He asked, happily.
Onew half smiled at this before making his way back to the remains of their dinner, which had already grown hard and cold in the time that she was ignored for Kibum. “Heh. Once he sucks the Officer dry and feels bad about it, he’ll come to his senses. He’ll come to us then, and I’ll take him in. I like him. I think he’s amusing.” He answered, kneeling next to the body in hopes of getting some blood from her, and Taemin smiled at his words. He liked his new vampire hyung too.
