TL: Continuing from the last issue, look back on the New Year’s Day Special. In Aiba-san’s “30 Pranks in Succession”, did you feel suspicious?

Aiba: They set it up in a pretty long span, right? While on the way to the studio, I was thinking that something strange was happening. Then, when the really huge powder puff came up, I thought it was already too strange. Because I’ve been doing this job for around ten years, but it was the first time I saw such a huge puff (laughs).

Ninomiya: With that, you finally thought it was strange?

Aiba: I thought I was being tricked.

Ninomiya: But when your makeup was applied with a smelly puff and such, even though it looked so smelly, why did you not say anything?

Aiba: Because sometimes that happens, doesn’t it? Times when it’s half-dried and it stinks.

Ninomiya: I don’t wear makeup often so I don’t know…

Aiba: Is that so… Maybe Nino might not have used a puff often.

Ninomiya: Yup. But even so… you know. Why  didn’t you say it?

Aiba: Because if I say “it stinks” to the puff that the makeup artist brought, which she might have washed and dried with all her might at home saying “Alright! I’ll do my best the whole day”, she will tell me “Your house stinks”. That’s why I couldn’t say it.

Ninomiya: If it were me, I would say “It stinks” (laughs). For a person who is like me in that way, certainly, that kind of prank project doesn’t come up.

Aiba: Because Nino is sensitive. At the point of the first smelly puff, you’ll immediately realize it’s a prank.

Ninomiya: Certainly, it might be that I’m sensitive. For example, if something that’s always supposed to be in the dressing room goes missing, I’ll immediately think it’s strange. Basically, it’s because I’m always distrustful (laughs).

Aiba: That’s why rather than having pranks set up for you, you’re more suited to be on the side of setting up the pranks.

Ninomiya: On the other hand, Aiba-san, as a habit can’t say things like “The puff stinks”, which seem like things I would say. I think you’re a kind person. Because it’s Aiba-san, it was a feasible project.

Aiba: Because I didn’t even realize the prank where I couldn’t get back the manga I lent and such, until I watched the VTR.

TL: By the way, what was the taste of the Brazilian meat dish, churrasco , that Miura Kazuyoshi-san (T/N: a Japanese soccer player) introduced in the “New Year King Discussion” corner?

Ninomiya: It was delicious~

Aiba: It had a really meaty feeling.

Ninomiya: Because rock salt was the only seasoning, right?

TL: Of the foreign dishes the two of you have eaten until now, when you speak of delicious things, what is it?

Aiba: What I ate in Italy…

Ninomiya: Pizza?

Aiba: Right. Pizza and pasta and such. Authentic Italian food was really good, to the point that I got surprised.

Ninomiya: And of course, Taiwan’s xiao long bao (T/N: steamed buns)

Aiba: Those are delicious.

Ninomiya: When we go to Taiwan we don’t eat anything except xiao long bao (laughs).

Aiba: (laughs). Certainly, if we go to Taiwan, we’ll definitely go to a xiao long bao shop.

TL: Finally, your thoughts on Arashi’s 15th Year Anniversary “15 Songs Nonstop Medley”.

Aiba: Because it’s a 15-song medley, generally speaking, the volume was huge.

Ninomiya: From the morning, we rehearsed for about three times, and the fourth time was the real take…

Aiba: It was our first time to go to the venue, TDC Hall, but the audience’s distance was really close. It looked like a live concert, and it didn’t feel like we were at a recording.

Ninomiya: It was really fun!

~END~

My first time to translate and Arashi-related article. Of course, it had to be about my favorite pair! Haha. Hopefully you enjoyed reading this, even if it’s very short.

I’m still learning the language, so please bear with me. Any comments and corrections are very much appreciated. :)
