So tonight I went and saw
Fahrenheit 9/11. Behind the cut are some of my comments- warning, I am going to mention a bit of my personal politics....
I have never thought that I could hate someone. Bush and his administration have taught me elsewise.
Michael Moore is brilliant at showing Bush off at his worst- you just want to spit in Bush's face as he ignores the foreign situation to go wack a golf ball. The portrayal of his family connection to the bin Ladens was frightening.
I realize that I am being a bit choppy, but mostly throughout the movie I kept feeling like somebody was punching me. I am at such a loss for words- so many scenes just made me want to scream-
-the fact that not one senator opposed the inaguaration of Bush
-the fact that Halliburton has so much invested in the deals that they have received from bombing Iraq
-the fact that Bush docked five days from a soldier's final pay because he died- not to mention all the other benefits that he takes from the soldiers and veterans
-the fact that he considers as his 'base' the 'haves' and 'have-mores'
-the fact that the current 'leader' of Afghanistan is an old business partner of his
-the fact that the people shown living their lives in Iraq were then shown in a war-zone
-the fact that the army is made mostly of the poor, who have nowhere else to turn and are constantly being recruited
-the fact that Bush took about ten minutes to react when told of the WTC disaster; during this time he sat in a classroom photo-op
By the end I could not do a single thing but cry. I protested against the damn war, and I intend to protest again at the Republican National Convention- but at the same time I feel such despair. How could have things become so awful? And why don't people care?
