I just found this story the other day, and have been unable to stop reading. It is just amazing. It is so appallingly real- it is not good vs. evil, rather it is individuals vs. beaurocracy, personal deals, people with petty qualities, decisions with no easy answers, the real world encroaching in... wow. It is not finished, but it is long, detailed, and good. Amazingly good.

The emotional affect of the war on Dumbledore. The characterization is tenderly done, the portraits are wonderful, and at the end you feel like crying.

I remember waiting eagerly for this story to be updated. A wonderful exploration of madness, one of the first fics that use a disability as a major factor of a story, all combined with a fatalistic tone (especially in the last two fics).
