On Sunday Andrew and I decided to spend the day together since we rarely get the opportunity to do fun things just the two of us anymore. We started off going to Asian Buffet. We gorged ourselves to bursting on the cornucopia of Snow Crab Legs, Sushi, and assorted asian delights. It was wonderful. Afterwards, we drove from Plymouth to Dearborn so that we could visit the IMAX theater at the Henry Ford Museum. We purchased tickets to "Destiny In Space." It's a documentary about outer space that is narrated by Leonard Nemoy "Spock." It was great because since we were looking at such a large screen, it was like we were actually in space. I can't wait until the next documentary about space comes out. The new one is in 3D, although it is narrated by Leonardo DiCaprio. Anyway, since it was a documentary, not many people were there, so we got our choice of the best seats in the place.
After the movie, we decided that we weren't quite ready to rejoin the world of the crazy people so we made a trip to Borders (our local bookstore). Andrew and I browsed around looking for books on every topic imaginable. I started browsing in the bargain books looking for good prices on recipe books. I found a TON. We really went on the right day. I picked up 4 books on different types of cooking and all of them were filled to bursting with great recipes for everyday cooking. I purchased a book with tons of recipes for slow cookers, another on stir-fry and wok cooking, a pocket bartender's guide with tons of recipes for cocktails, and a book on seafood. I spent less than 20 dollars for the bunch. It was amazing.
After we finished browsing our heart's content at Borders we went to Meijer so that we could pick up a couple bottles of good wine. We got a nice bottle of Cabernet and a bottle of Sake. We came home after that and snuck our favors upstairs where we could drink in peace. Andrew turned on UP! and we laughed and drank until it was time to go to sleep.
It was a great day.
Since then I've been browsing through all the wonderful books I bought and they are making me soo hungry! I'm thinking of trying out a recipe for Philly Cheese Steaks tonight. But that means I'll have to make a trip to the grocery store to pick up a few things. It's not a really Philly Cheese Steak without Cheese Whiz. :)
