ger vs england
Missed the first half.
Honestly, I just don't think the English team is that amazing. Or rather, what I should say is that they're very inconsistent. Sometimes, for brief stretches, they'll gel and look really lethal. But most of the time, IDK. Just by chance they happen to be one of the teams I've watched most this tournament and if you asked me to name a particular player or mention something they're really good at, I'm at a loss. (Most recognizable to me is actually their coach.... who I have a positive impression of, as he seems both intelligent and supportive of his players.) This is one of the reasons why I'm particularly irritated by the post-loss narrative (and by the forced Cinderella narrative that had been floating around prior to that game).
(I think the best example of how I feel about the English team is their game against Norway: the Norwegians were playing visibly better throughout the first half and only started flagging later and then a few minutes of wonderful play out of nowhere got England their winning goal.)
The German team, otoh, makes me wish I had seen more of their games. They just seem a lot more coherent even when they're not playing particularly well. (I especially regret missing Germany/France. For all the hype, I didn't manage to catch ANY of the French games, sighhhh.)
(I may be biased because I think the German GK Angerer is awesome.)
Extra tiiiiiiime. This has been kind of boring tbh (which is exactly how I felt about England vs. Canada and England vs. Norway... shrug).
I'm half tempted to switch to the Copa America final instead, guaranteed more drama hahahaha.

That was an awful call though. (In the sense that this ref hasn't been calling anything before this...) Germans were furious and for good reason.
(Seemed like a clear foul but replay made it look really weird, as the English player was actually grabbing tight to the German player's arms before.....)
Oh and while I was typing that, now the English are mad at the ref gg. These past few games have been really annoying from a referee standpoint.
You know, I don't feel bad about not feeling sorry for the English team anymore. Can't say I dislike them, exactly, and I keep waiting for them to win me over, and the exact opposite happens every single time.
I'm not going to say they didn't deserve this win (Germany really wasn't playing all that well, I feel like they didn't really CARE until the end), but to win like that...... Well, a win is a win, but I really despise all the people buying into the underdog narrative and that's that.
(As I've said before, I don't mind rough games, but I do mind when they're borderline dirty. The more people try to spin this into a Cinderella story, the more I wonder if we were actually watching the same games... [It's not just the game-winning foul I'm talking about, but man, whatever, I'm done.])
