dropping Bleach, checked the most recent chapter because I heard weird shit happened...
And wow, following it weekly really numbed me to the stupidity of the series, huh? Coming back to it after this break, the inanity of the plot and Kubo's "stylistic choices" (incomprehensibly blank panels... it's no longer artistic if you do the same thing all the time is it??) is downright infuriating. Also literally nothing happens, it's essentially a reaction chapter zzzzzz. I fucking swear, whatever plot has happened in the past two years or so barely fills a single paragraph.
(I can't believe I actually liked Ichigo better than Naruto at one point....)
I've sure missed seeing Yoruichi in action though, I'll give Kubo that!
I heard Fairy Tail timeskipped again too. IMO 90% of the time when a series timeskips (exceptions being when the tale is being continued by a completely new generation), especially when it timeskips more than once, it's a sign that the writer has a really bad handle on pacing. (At least it's not as hilariously gratuitous as Bleach's timeskip I guess, from what I hear)

Timeskips are basically free reset buttons. And boy if any series has abused the reset button like whoa... it's Fairy Tail.
(timeskips I can think of that I actually LIKE/make narrative sense: One Piece [duh], Naruto [in terms of overall structure Naruto never had huge issues, its problems were more in the nitty gritty details IMO], Vinland Saga [key word: Saga]...)

One Piece animation quality is mediocre and lacks the sharp narrative framing of Oda's original work, but I've been watching faithfully over the past few weeks because 1) moodlifter, 2) nice music, 3) anime's reached one of the best parts of the arc, 4) there's something comforting about hearing Luffy scream dumb shit
This week's episode made me especially happy because we get to see a certain female character in action whom the manga has teased us with but hasn't actually spotlighted yet! <3

Sorry for spamming constantly about manga I don't even enjoy along with OP overdose. To be honest, my mental state since last summer -- well, just thinking about it makes me sick to the stomach so y'know, whatever.
