OMG I had no idea Hajime Chitose did a collab with Ryuichi Sakamoto:

The Dead Little Girl (song lyrics are translated from a Turkish poem about Hiroshima I think)

<333333

(ftr after I found this, I also found a second collab, but it's not as nice.)

Also alan (Tibetan J-pop singer who did the Red Cliff theme songs [1, 2]) is a much better singer than I'd assumed (I tend to automatically write off cpop singers, srry2say) -- her voice is terrific for orchestral pop. <33 SO SAD that most of her non-movie stuff has boring/generic arrangement though -- it drives me NUTS when amazing voices are wasted on generic crap.

This song is my fave of hers over even the Red Cliff themes:

Ashita e no Sanka [a hymn for tomorrow]

Two of the more decent songs she's had:

Sakura Modern
Ballad: Namonaki Koi no Uta [untitled love song]

But in general her pre-J-pop stuff had a lot more character:

Ode to the Himalayas
Road to Heaven
