Two weeks in and still alive :)

The hospital is astonishingly dull, though I suppose this shouldn't be a surprise after all this time. I'm fed up of being a medical student and ready to get paid again! No doubt I'll miss the easy hours when I'm actually working.

We went diving on Sunday. I haven't finished my PADI open water yet, so I did my first open water dive. Despite diving from the beach reather than a boat I still got to see plenty of wildlife, including tropical fish, octopuses and moray eels. My intructor was fearless, hoiking up bits of rock and cheerily pointing out the wildlife capable of taking a finger off. Later Fiona and I got horribly drunk on pina coladas and rum & coke, while staying out of the clutches of two smooth talking miscreants.

The architecture out here is very colonial. Almost all building are made from thin-walled concrete, with shutters rather than windows. Many of the local businesses look as if they constructed the premises themselves, probably not too far from the truth after Hurricane Ivan. There are still plenty of houses left in ruins.

There isn't really enough in Grenada to keep us here for the full 9 weeks, so after our stint in the hospital is over we'll travel to Barbados. There's a larger range of activities, including more watersports, golf and riding.
