The Illustrated Chronicles of Bookshelf Abuse Vol.03

Aug 01, 2006 23:57

Technically speaking, I shouldn't bother cataloguing this particular Amazon Japan shipment because the majority of it wasn't mine. In fact, about 80% of it was sutsume's POT =P

I only ended up getting two things...

But since I did add stuff to my bookshelf...

Cut for surprisingly reasonable (but long) fangirlism ^_^ )

You should definitely get your hands on it!! The main thing I love about the Edge (other than the pretty artwork -- I want an artbook!! *L*) is that it throws into sharp relief the stuff that we've always known, but that Athrun may not know. As an audience, we've always been a bit too omnipresent to be able to judge individual character's actions/motivations properly.

For example, it never really occurred to me that Athrun may not know that Stellar was the one piloting Destroy. It's such a small detail, but it could potentially go a long way to explaining why he thought Shinn's rage towards Kira came out of absolutely nowhere, and why he was so angry with Shinn after Impulse took out Freedom... Because for all he knew, he could see no reason why Shinn would act so mercilessly towards someone who had technically saved all their asses in Berlin, even with military orders in mind ^^;;;

Other than that though? Athrun's inner monologue as he was helplessly watching Impulse and Freedom duke it out? Totally and utterly heart-breaking T^T The overwhelming feeling that vol.4 gives me is just how completely lost Athrun was between approx Destiny 26 and 36... which adds yet another facet to the mess of emo/angst that is Destiny!Athrun *LOL*

All things to keep in mind if when I continue writing *L*

And yes, she has her pot... *grins* although please don't make me sound like a dealer anymore than I already do *LOL*

Yessss I wanted the Edge so that at least I could see some canon material with actual narrative introspection (clipshows and stuff aside from the series) from Athrun's perspective. And yeah, it's hard to understand some character's actions sometimes when you're too busy watching everything to look through one set of eyes at a time.

That reminds me... Athrun would also have not understood why Shinn hesitated with Destroy, wouldn't he? D: There might be some kind of irony there, since I... don't remember Shinn knowing that Freedom's pilot was Athrun's best friend? And part of why Shinn may have looked down on Athrun for hesitating with him. (Correct me if I'm wrong. XD)

Translation plssssss. DDDDD: God, Athrun, why must you take so long to get over things like emo conundrums and physical injuries...

BENCH AHEM. <3333

It's too late, I KNOW YOUR SIDE JOB. *finger waggle*

No, Athrun didn't understand why Shinn hesitated in front of Destroy (The Edge vol.4 shows this). From his point of view, Kira actually saved Shinn's life *L* But whether Shinn knows that Freedom's pilot is Athrun's best friend is up for debate. Depending on how much of a cover up the PLANT Supreme Council conjured up for Athrun, the new recruits may not even really understand that Freedom and Justice fought on the same side ^^;;;

But going by what the series alone shows us, Shinn would only be able to make the connection between Athrun and Freedom's pilot through Orb. The "Athrun used to live at Orb. Freedom is Orb's mobile suit. Therefore, Athrun must/should know Freedom's pilot." At least, according to what I remember XD

Translations huh? *L* I'll do you one better.

And yes... bench... ^^;;; given that all the ideas I've come up with, I've disgarded for being meaningless... would you settle for Remnant3 with bench? *LOL*
