My family was waiting for me when I returned home dressed in my bridal splendour.
'What have you done, Rosalie?' Carlisle's voice was quiet, guarded.
I lifted my chin defensively. 'Nothing that wasn't completely justified.'
It was Esme who moved first, coming forward to me with arms outstretched.
'My poor, dear, child,' she said, and wrapped me in a hug.
At her touch I crumpled inside, the full weight of what I'd done crashing down upon me. Even if they had deserved it ...
'I killed ...'
'It's okay.' Esme kissed my cheek. 'You don't have to tell us. You don't have talk about it.'
