(why do I now have Glen Hansard singing "the cow kicked Fred" in my head? that never happened!)

I had these shiny wondrous plans of doing things tonight, except, well. My SG-1 season 10 box set arrived (deepdiscountdvd.com ftw!) and the siren call of commentary was far too much to bear. Mmmm. 200. *Homer Simpson impression* (And, omg, how much do I love Rob Cooper admitting they based it on the Treehouse of Horror episodes. Oh, SHOW.) *has ( Read more... )

Have you heard those terrible rumours (that appear to be true) about no cast commentaries on S3 SGA DVDs? I mean, obviously, I'll still buy them, but it won't be the same without David Hewlett getting his geek on with Martin Gero whilst Joe Flannigan does his muppet laugh in the background. They bloody well better have some bloopers on there to make up for it!

I have heard those rumours, yes, and I am hoping like hell it's not true, because my love for the "hi, I'm Martin Gero. And I'm Martin Wood. And I'm David Martin Hewlett!" thing cannot be textually rendered, and I want moooooooore of it.

*crosses fingers like whoa*

How about the love for (and I paraphrase): "I'm Martin Gero, I wrote this episode", "I'm David Hewlett, I was in this episode", "And I'm Joe Flannigan, I saved this episode." Cue the squeeeeee.

There was a preview of the S3 dvds today that I read, maybe on SGA newsletter? Somewhere on LJ. And sadly it's true, no cast commentaries at all. Big boo!

Mmmm, Siege 3.

...it is possible I have listened to those commentaries really a very much lot. *geeeeeeeeek*

Oh, NUTS. I forgot to follow that link. Grarrr. The S10 dvds for SG-1 don't seem to have cast commentaries either, so I guess either they rushed them into production and didn't have time, or... hell, I do not know what they were thinking, but WAH.

No, Amanda does a couple and Chris does one for s10.

But, yes, no David Martin Hewlett = BOO.

And, exactly. Le sigh.

I can quote more easily from the cast commentaries on the LoTR films than I can from the films themselves. Does that make me a geek? Yeah, yeah it does! \o/

Re. SGA/SG-1. There must have been some agent/payment/PTB kerfuffle? Badness! At least we'll still get Martin Gero (I assume!), he's *almost* as good as DH & JF. Depending on whom he's partnered with. I just love banter in commentaries.

Aside: One of the best 'banters’ in commentary ever? Joss Whedon and Nathan Fillion on Firefly's first episode 'Serenity'.

I totally support that in a person! *grins*

I'm thinking, actually, it was probably more a scheduling thing, because both SG-1 and SGA have had their DVDs follow the airing dates a LOT more rapidly than usual, so probably the actors were too busy actually working on the new stuff to do it... And I think I saw at least five Gero commentaries. \o/

Oh my GOD, yes. And then in- I think Objects in Space? Must rewatch again soon- when they're all "WHY would you want to have a second of black screen when it could be filled with a reality-based gameshow!" and all the bitching about Fox and I love them a very much lot. I think my all-time-favourite-commentary-teams is pretty much a threeway tie between Joss-and-Nathan, Dom-and-Billy, and Martin-Martin-and-David. *hearts them so*
