In Soviet Atlantis, Evian water drinks YOU!

...guys. I am having the most overwhelming attack of nostalgia. I'm trying to watch the JAGs that I got this afternoon, and just-- oh. Man. Even hearing the theme song again. ♥ It has been so long. And I completely forgot how adorable and hot Catherine Bell is. (She would be exhibit number twelve or so in, Dude, Seriously, How Did I Not Realise I Was Queer Sooner?) This is like watching the Sentinel again for the first time in years, except it's not been quite so long as that was. (Sad fact: I remembered the Sentinel a LOT more clearly than I remembered due South. Um. Yeah. Moving on!)

Adding as I watch:

Oh. My. God. The Gibbs:DiNozzo dynamic is totally there - and in the form it pretty much has now-and-ever - from the very. first. minute. FLAIL OF AWESOME. (God, I am easy.)

Oh DUCKY. I love Ducky SO MUCH. (Is it wrong I want to pimp Joan into NCIS on the basis of David McCallum? Um.)

"What are you, Pocahontas?" Oh, Tony, how is it you can get away with saying things that would make me want to punch most people and on you they're just charming? Also, Michael Weatherly? Pls continue to wear glasses a lot. Thank you kindly.

"We're going to let the Admiral play the good cop. For about seven minutes." *is overwhelmed with Gibbs-related flail* (How is he so awesome? How? (And why can't I get out of parenthesis today??))

Also, I am seriously digging how much this feels like an episode of NCIS with JAG guest-stars, rather than vice versa - it was not at all what I was expecting. Do we know if they were intending to spin-off from this if it worked okay, or was it one of those Prometheus Unbound-ish episodes where they went to do something new and different and fun and found it worked spectacularly?

(Part of me vaguely wants there to be fic of Admiral Chegwidden and Colonel Caldwell commiserating over their cocky flyboy underlings who somehow get away with the equivalent of murder on a regular basis.)

...what? I am kind of weirded out by the vague suggestion of Abby hankering after Tony. That relationship is one I see way more as filial than anything else. Though, um, I am a giant flaming hypocrit because I can see Abby:Gibbs as a family relationship and also totally in the adorable squishy May-December affair type of way. (And while I think of it, the one panel I'm really sad didn't happen at MJ was the one Dira suggested about when slashers go het, because I am still, definitely, first and foremost a slasher, but there has also been a LOT of het shipping I am totallyokayomgsocute with/about lately. Dear Bones, CSI, NCIS and Farscape - that was most definitely to your respective addresses. Love, me.)

The argument about military courtesy totally pushed all my geekflail buttons, too. Oh, boys.

OOH. That TBC scene was made of awesome. With not "did you kill her" but "would you kill to protect your brother" because of course he would.

Oh, so this is why we were supposed to recognise the cute JAG Lt with the freckles. Much becomes clear! (Also, in watching NCIS I have realised that very few people on US TV these days seem to have freckles. What's with that? Just about every north american Chris and I have met is all "omg! freckles! awesome!", so how come that isn't reflected in Pretty TV People looks? /sidetrack

Oh, Abby in vanilla clothes and glasses. <3 Okay, it's mostly the glasses. Again with the me and the easy. Also, I wish I could work out who the Army (?) prosecutor guy is/looks like, because it's driving me crackers. (OH. It's Lamb from Veronica Mars. TeeVee, how are you so incestuous?) And I have a funny feeling Abby's testimony is about to get annihilated. Ohdear.

"She got whacked-- went to Valhalla..." *snickers in unbecoming fashion*

Man, if I could do meta, the positive screeds that could be written about Gibbs and women. And, actually, DiNozzo and women. And women on Bellisario's shows in general. And, okay, the delicious homoeroticism is also there to be metaed over too. YAY. Thank you so much, guys. <3

[If I just read me and didn't know me at all, I would think all I do is watch TV. I swear to god, it's really not. I do lots of other things! I just, you know, suck at talking about them. I guess that's as good an illustration as any of how LJs are more or less synecdochic after all, huh?]

After I phone posted again this afternoon (verdict: Canada far superior to Australia! *has no further comment, just lots of snickering in very Kiwi fashion*), I went back to work by way of a newly discovered short-cut. Okay, I say short-cut, I ended up at exactly the same spot in the line of traffic behind a slow truck that I had been before I turned off, but the important fact is I got to drive nice and fast on a deserted country road with an ENORMOUS hill (so fun to drive down, I actually did that awful stereotyped "laughing with delight" thing as I did so) and a spectacular view out to the southwest and the north. I am beginning to kind of rule at navigating Franklin. (I am also desperately trying to find something I can take a photo of to make Franklin's Hand type comments about, but so far no dice. Also, Auckland? Is bounded by RODNEY to the North, and FRANKLIN to the South. I love my country.)

Also, reading a bunch of Georgette Heyer novels has done some truly odd things to my mental voice. There may be ficlets about how Rodney is making an utter cake of himself percolating up there. Send. Help.

...oh, wow. The stars are incredibly bright tonight. I just went out to shut the gates, and ended up just standing there staring for a bit (except then it was too cold so I moved again). I guess all the storms cleared out the atmosphere some.

mars is bright tonight, i am an enormous dork, ncis, due south, jag, sga, geek flail
