oh god, it's eleven already. gah. this keeps happening. admittedly, tonight, it happened because i got home super late and then flopped in front of the tv after doing my bit for dinner instead of trying to work on anything, but... Bones! which i am stupidly hooked on (the degree to which i am hooked is stupid, not the action of being hooked) because... pirates. seriously, that show is alarmingly fun. and awesomely dorktacular. i mean, i slip back to thinking "oh yeah, crime show, whatever" every now and then and then they do something like slap a guy to prove he's not Special Forces and it makes me squeak and bounce on my chair with the *heart*ing of it. so, yeah. /ode to Bones. i really can't express how much more i like the show than the books (okay, the show has a sense of humour which, from memory, was lacking a lot in the books, which also focused a lot more on the angst and romance, though, okay, at least were set in Canada (what? i have strange priorities, okay??)) but i just do. the end.

anyway, i only did like four hours of actual work today, because we had a full lab/technical meeting thinger in Hamilton. Hamilton is about 120kms away from Auckland, on the quarry side of the city, so only really about 80 klicks from where we were. but since (as Sandra and Chris will respectively remember, because yes, Sandra, they're STILL doing it two years later - i am NOT JOKING!) there are road works up the wazoo most of that stretch of road it took like over an hour. to get there. and we left late. and the meeting ran late. so instead of getting out bright spanking early like i was half expecting, i got home quite a lot later than usual. we hit sunset in Huntly again though and ngh. must. take. camera. and be able to stop. because ngh. sun setting behind the Huntly power station (chimneys) and reflecting off the Waikato and just... pretty. and, tomorrow i'm trying to go in early (so i can leave early) because the other tech is out, so it's just me in the morning, which is kinda good cos maybe i'll be able to get my head around a few things without having to worry about messing up in front of people. i suck with audiences. this is why i am not good at most things. performance anxiety wah-hey!

anyway!! so, last night, when i went to bed and again left the computer to download (and stuff up, AGAIN - more than eight hours and it lied and said the download was complete - and it turned out to be three minutes long, gee, thanks, fucker) i'd just laid down when all of a sudden i was struck by more or less the entirety of the drabble for Liz. except, was nearly 1am and too cold to get up again, so you're getting it now. :)

Slowly making himself at home, Ray looked up in response the clatter of keys at the door. A dark-haired woman bustled in, practically bouncing fit to match the glee on her face as she nudged the door open with a careless foot, bringing Fraser ("Mind if I call you Benton? Might be a bit queer...") inside, fussing over him as he settled in next to Ray. As the two of them sidled closer, curious, a second woman let herself in, a familiar thumb-to-eyebrow gesture her only response to the new arrivals.

Liz shot her a huge grin. "Anna, look! Turtles!"

Oh god I hope you don't mind only that image fell into my head and I couldn't HELP myself and okay, technically RPF but I'm hoping neither of you will mind. But c'mon. If ANY of us got turtles we would so do that, right?
