Got asked 5 questions by
draggycakes today, so I answered them whilst at work. I already did the meme, but if you want to be asked 5 random questions, respond here with your favorite Star Trek character. 8D
1.(because it is most important) YOU ARE STILL COMING TO ENGLAND AT THE END OF THE YEAR AND WE ARE HANGING OUT, RIGHT?
YES, WE ARE. I am hoping to RING IN THE NEW YEAR in England, actually. 8D I don’t know exact dates just yet, but I’ll be there. I need to figure out where I am STAYING. England is full of lovely people I want to meet. :3 I AM ALSO WILLING TO BAKE FOR YOU IF YOU LET ME IN YOUR KITCHEN 8D
2.If you could talk to Kishi and Kubo, and make one suggestion for their manga to change something, what would it be xD
To Kishi-MAKE TOBI OBITO. That is the ONLY thing I would tell him. I figure he’s got a good handle on everything else. All that I want to see is my Obitan as Tobi and I’m good.
To Kubo-DRAW MORE NIPPLES ON YOUR SHIRTLESS MEN DEAR GOD. MEN. HAVE NIPPLES. YOUR RIPPED MEN WHO HAVE NO NIPPLES FRIGHTENS AND BOTHERS ME GREATLY.
Actually that could go to Kishimoto too buuuut he doesn’t draw many shirtless men (and he gets a pass for drawing Raikage with nipples on the poster I bought this weekend AHAHAHA)
3. What is the thing you love most about being in Japan?
Ugh, this is HARD. And your timing makes me lol. I adore the public transportation, as it’s good and relatively cheap. I’ve traveled to many different places thank to the JR And other lines (Hankyuu, subways, buses, rail cars), and despite trainfail season, it’s pretty reliable.
I also REALLY love the regional specialty foods and the crazy flavors of ice cream. CREAM CORN ICE CREAM, you are so weird and bizarre!
4. manga aside, what TV shows do you like!
House, Project Runway, Merlin, True Blood, The Big Bang Theory, and Doctor Who. I’ve fallen off with Doctor Who because I kind of hate Torchwood (lol they killed the last interesting character, so I never watched Children of Earth), but I’m interested in the new Doctor! Won’t be as fabulous as 9, but at least he won’t have 10’s baggage.
Merlin and True Blood are fabulous shows. I love them because if you look at the canon they come from and the TV series, they are TOTALLY DIFFERENT but still really enjoyable. And they’ve both taken characters that I was lukewarm to in canon (Uther, Layfayette) and made me REALLY like them. Tue Blood also brought Pam to life and she is even MORE AMAZING. Man, if I was gay and she was real, I would be all over that like white on rice. Seriously, Pam is love<3 I want to be here when I grow up. XD
TBBT is actually a pretty good sitcom that I recently started watching because of Wil Wheaton. I KNOW OMG SUCH A LOSER but it’s fun to watch and I love Sheldon. XD Penny and Lenard are kind of “whatever” but Sheldon, omg. SO GLAD he’s not real in MY life but I love that kind of character, and the actor who plays him is brilliant. Raj and Howard are like the ambiguously gay dweeb duo, and it’s hilarious. I love how the show mocks that, it’s really well done.
And yeah, I stay away from the fandoms of these shows like BURNING.
5. and who would your favourite author be? ;) <3
Ohhhh, this is HARD. My favourite and most respected living author is probably Stephen King. Which sounds totally bizarre, I know. But if you ever read “On Writing,” I think you’d understand why. I’ve learned a lot from him, and it’s probably my favorite book about writing that I have ever read. He makes beautiful and complex character driven stories that are easy to lose yourself in and read. He’s actually the author of my favorite fantasy/end-of-the-world-and-time series ever, The Dark Tower. God bless my friend for pointing that series out to me, I really, REALLY loved it and the ending was so bittersweet and perfect. You have to like horror sometimes too, but it’s SO good. I really want to find an address to write him at, because the man seriously changed my outlook on writing, and touched my life with his work. Odd thing to say about a man categorized as a horror novelist.
My other favorite author is Michael Crichton. Oh man, his death still kills me sometimes. I grew up with him, he was a pleasure to read when I was in High School and I mourn the fact that he will never write another book. I respect him for a lot of reasons, even if his politics were questionable. He was a highly intelligent man who was probably a rather terrible husband (he was married and divorced several times), but I would have loved to meet him. He was also one of the first authors I could share with my mother. <3
