Yuletide Letter: 2015
Hello! I'm specialrhino on AO3. We share a fandom! I applaud your taste.
Het, gen, slash, femmeslash, porn (with some character insight or plot attached), crack or AUs (canon divergent or other) are fine with me.
I like:
pretend dating
prickly characters remaining prickly while doing hurt/comfort or being romantic/sweet
aus with lots of details from canon
when characters "have broccoli"
banter
loyalty
physical forms of affection
when a detail from canon is extrapolated wildly, resulting in crack that is taken seriously (e.g. Harry Potter had a chest monster + People were really into his mom -> Harry Potter finds out he's a veela and has to deal with the logistics/angst accompanying that.)
I dislike:
italics
time travel
teen rebellion
public declarations/exhibitionism (I get secondhand embarassment)
road trips
Captive Prince characters: Laurent, Damen
I would love something with Laurent being very protective of Damen (or possessive, with Damen not being too bothered by it). I would also love some sort of h/c where the hurt is light and the comforter character completely overreacts. Other things that would be great: Partnership telepathy moments*! Laurent playacting as something with Damen trying to play it cool/being dragged along! Or something to do with Laurent's brother worship of Auguste/Auguste's overprotectiveness of Laurent, because I think it is the cutest thing ever (and the only thing that remains of when Laurent was innocent enough to be cute).
*not actual telepathy though
Feel free to set this in a nebulous future or anywhere on the timeline - the character interactions are far more important to me than the plausibility of the premise. :)
Revenge characters: Nolan Ross, Emily Thorne
Five times Emily comforted Nolan and one time she let him comfort her. Or the other way around. Or not even five times. Or something where it's obvious to a side character that Emily and Nolan know one another really, really well and make a great team even though it doesn't seem like they'd be compatible on the surface. Feel free to make this set during season 1 or 2 or a canon divergent AU (what if Nolan found Emily, sort of adopted her as his sister and then she came back to the Hamptons as a brother of a millionaire? Cue iddy "the best revenge is living well." or just the sibling premise. I am a huge sucker for family feels gen.).
There was a moment in season 1 (just after Emily discovers that Charlotte is her sister) where Nolan was living in Emily's house and Charlotte decides to stay with her as well. By the end of the episode, of course, Nolan had moved out and Victoria had found a way to turn Charlotte against Emily (iirc), but for a moment, I glimpsed a beautiful, sparkling future of all of them being pleasant to one another and having a family unit that wasn't terrible/crazy/double crossing. Some sort of canon divergent AU (that handwaves or delves into a relatively painless resolution of all of the Revenging) with domestic shenanigans and the three of them learning to rely on one another would make me very happy!
I don't really ship Emily/Nolan, but happily read fic for it anyways, so this can be shippy or gen. Sociopath Emily of Season 1 is my favourite Emily. I loved how she was terrifying and yet made allowances for Nolan.
Master and Margarita characters: Any (Margarita, Pontius Pilate, Ivan Nikolaevich)
My favourite characters were Homeless, Margarita and Pontius Pilate, possibly because they are all such earnest woobies. I would love to read about any of them having nice things, triumphing, suffering, being melancholic or something about their childhood/adolescence/journey to where they ended up in canon.
It's been a while since I read this book, so you don't need to slave over getting small details correct. I did really, really, really love the thoughtful and melancholic tone, so if you could capture that, your fic could be about literally anything and I would love it.
I would prefer it if the Master didn't show up very much in whatever you write, because I didn't like him very much (although I did enjoy how into him Homeless was).
Oresama Teacher characters: Saeki Takaomi, Kurosaki Mafuyu
(I've gotten wonderful fic for this in years past, but I love it and will request it forever. I apologize if you have been assigned to me before!)
Mafuyu/Takaomi, please, whether it be futurefic or not. I love how comfortable and familiar they are with one another, and how Takaomi is pretty much the only person around whom Mafuyu acts feminine (because she's basically everyone else's prince).
I would love to see one defending the other's honor, Takaomi being unexpectedly chivalrous/sweeping Mafuyu off her feet, Takaomi being jealous and Mafuyu being oblivious, a situation where Mafuyu is the only one that can help Takaomi or hurt/comfort. Or anything, really, so long as their affection for one another is requited and I can revel in it. Crazy AUs are fine as well, up to and including suprise secret royalty that is actually a Sailor Moon AU (Takaomi would make such a sarcastic Endymion, and Mafuyu would be overjoyed at being a princess, heh).
If you're more of an ensemblefic writer, I really love all of Mafuyu's friendships (or family, really, seeing as she doesn't have much of one at home) and the crazy venn diagram of who knows what about her life and how her friends all know one another, so feel free to include as much of that as you would like in the background.
