Who knew dogs could run that fast. Faster than a robot, even. Jumping didn’t help much, either. And this was just a puppy. How it managed to avoid all the monsters in its path was something that made Quote wonder. “Please get all my dogs back,” Jenka had said, and Quote was an obedient boy. Robot. Robot boy.
A skull bit at his foot, and Quote shot it down with no problem. A parrot swept by, and Quote barely got his cap back. A giant something stomped behind him. Gun at the ready, he swiveled on the sand to turn to this new menace. But he didn’t get as much as a chance to even think about pressing the trigger when something warm and slobbery smacked against his whole body.
Almost lifting Quote off his feet, the gargantuan pup demonstrated its affection like every other of its kind. Stumbling for a second, and no more, the robot rubbed the slime off his eyes (as the drool didn’t help his sight range any) and grabbed the hanging tongue. With three of the other puppies suddenly sitting on his head and shoulders, Quote thought it impractical to try and carry this one, too.
He let out a cough of static and the dog barked, leaving the poor boy almost deaf but quite dry. Not minding his need of a bath for a second, Quote guided the dog, and carried the rest, back to their master’s house.
