And so it was time to try a real date. The Doctor had put on a purple tie for it even, because that was fancy and met Rose at the spot they'd chosen. He'd considered getting her flowers but decided to forgo them in favour of a few still fresh scones and some jelly babies.
"Hullo, Rose!" He gave a cheerful wave, then rubbed at his neck. Same something about her clothes! said a voice. And like a good sane person, he listened. "Your clothes still look nice."

Noticing that he was a bit awkward, and thinking that he probably didn't do this too often, she couldn't hold back a little laugh as she walked up, and linked arms with him. "So. Where to, then, Doctor?"
Reply
Already he was leading her off for it. "There's something rather special tonight."

She stopped briefly in her tracks. "No invasions, right?"

But then he grinned and laughed, pushing away some of the large, tropical leaves. "It's a surprise! We'll be there soon. Just beyond this stretch. Impatient?"

The Doctor led Rose through the jungle to the other side of the island, where the beach was longer and a bit more rocky. He found a nice patch of cool white sand and shrugged off his coat laying it out for the two of them. Settling down upon it, he pointed out towards the horizon beyond the waves.
"You see, we're lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time," he explained. "In, oooh, a minute, there's going to be a supernova out there. It'll light up the sky. Can't miss it!"

She paused momentarily. "May, though. Jury's still out. There's still time for aliens to ruin it all."

He trailed off and tipped his head in thought. He could feel time moving and sense where it was going. Which, in this case, was perfect for sensing the supernova.
"And now!" he announced. Instantly a star above the horizon flickered and exploded, light spreading across the ocean before it settled to hang in the sky like a second moon.

She waited a bit longer in silence, before speaking up again. "And thanks. For showing this to me."
