The King of Conquerors, as the other Servants were so often saying, was an unusual fellow. There were few other mortals that had received such recognition and inspired so many past their lifetime. The arguable competitor for the title was another Servant in this Grail War, the King of Knights, but even noble "Arthur" did not blaze a trail across the world. Perhaps it was because Arturia was so noble. Alexander was a king, and noble in his own sense, but he was not nearly as saintly as the King of the Britons. Far from it. Alexander the Great was quite well known for being a rash, loud, and straight-forward fellow. Many scholars often noted how impressive it was that a man of his character was able to unite such a vast land, even if it didn't last far beyond his young death.

Of course, three thousand years in hindsight, Rider didn't exactly care for what the scholars had to say about his life. It turned out they were wrong, most of the time. He couldn't truly fault them, since they were merely missing the pieces of the puzzle that would make it clear, but only young Waver would know the truth of his conquests. The idea sat very well with Rider. If anyone, the young man that had become his Master was the only one that Rider wanted to know, anyways.

But alas, Waver had been even more upset with Rider as of late. It was reasonable, but the damned bad luck that plagued him was growing to be a problem. His sword, though powerful in his hands, was not a Noble Phantasm. It had worked well enough to slay the familiars that Waver they had dealt with, but it was mistakes that now dulled his blade. His Master had taken a slight injury from one of them, which was unforgivable for Rider. It was an insult to his pride, mostly, but being berated by Waver only reminded him on the failure to protect his Master. There was, of course, the bond between Master and Servant that simply stood as a mutually beneficial agreement, but Rider was fond of the boy.

The failure wasn't forgivable, though.

As a mortal, Alexander had always shaken off his troubles in two ways. One, reading Homer's Iliad provided him the ease of the mind that he sought. Two, training until his limbs would no longer move without feeling sluggish provided him the ease of the body. Having already fulfilled the mental aspect, that left the other.

Rider stood in the Plane's forest, staring at one of the trees. It was too easy to train in the Coliseum that had been provided. Instead, another Gordian Knot was a much better idea to him. Switching his blade between hands for a moment, Alexander paused before bellowing a battle cry and plunging the sword into the wood. It was not as simple as slicing an intricate knot, but with his sword more than halfway through, the tree creaked and fell, taking two more with it.
