19 in 30 - My TV can only get TV on it

Chris has two small TVs, so we figured that we'd put one in each room and my big 36 inch (soon to be HDTV?) in the living room.

He gave me his crappy one tho, the one with only the coaxial input on it. No problem I thought, I've done this before. I'll just get my old VCR from home and bring it up, I've used it for just this situation for going on 9 years now.

I don't really plan to watch TV on it. Rather I want to use it as a third monitor, a preview for my video editing, hook my PSX, SNES and N64 up on it.

With it as my third monitor, I figured I could also play DVDs from my computer, or downloaded TV shows, etc.

Unfortunately we picked up my old VCR from home today, took it home and discovered that using it for this very purpose for going on 9 years now was a little too long a lifespan for the poor thing. It just won't turn on. I disassembled it and found about 9 years of dust. Fixed the dust, but still no good. I took apart the power supply, and the fuse is still good so I'm just assuming the damn thing is dead.

Sucks I thought. Oh well, I'll just find an RCA -> Coaxial converter (to hook up to my switcher box). We drive to radio shack and I grab one.

Get home, and the damn thing doesn't work. That's not to say the piece I got from radio shack doesn't work- it's a very simple thing and as little respect I have for radio shack, it's hard to fuck something that simple.

So Chris' TV that I'm borrowing can really only be used for TV right now- which is bloody useless to me.

I'm going through my options, but right now it looks like I'll have to buy an inexpensive VCR to get the TV to do what I want.

Oh well.

Anyone got any neat ideas?
