Okay, so I missed it by like... what, 3 weeks? Oh well though, I still managed to find a day where I could bike to work! I hooked my computer up Monday night and calibrated it so I would know how fast and how far I rode. The bike to work was 5.85 +/- 0.2 miles in 28 minutes and some change. That computed out to around 11 or 12 mph average. Top speed on the way there was 23 mph. Hills + wind = sucky! I earned my pennies on the way back home though! First of all Janelle didn't want me riding home because of some condensation in the air or something like that; I had no idea what she was talking about. Then she said something about hell [or maybe it was hail?] so I bolted outta there! My computer kept the data from the ride to work and started from there.
-Total distance traveled: 10.949 [altered the route home according to speed, hence the discrepancy between doubling the ride-to-work miles]
-Top speed: 37.6 mph,
-Average speed [to and fro] 14.0,
-Total time: 47:09.
That's a 19 minute return trip home compared to a 28 minute trip there! Definitely a hill/wind factor there. I'm shocked at the top speed though, that's just phenomenal. I was on 105th Street headed downhill for probably 1/2 mile toward Pacific St and I was keeping up with the traffic so I think it's probably pretty accurate. I was also in 27th gear at 90+rpm. Anyway, I love my new bike even though Henry likes to get on me about how much we paid for it. I told him that out of all the hobbies we at NRH have, his is probably second most expensive behind Jeff's [I think Jeff's hobby is just spending money].
Okay! bye!
