Missed our morning run on Friday.. Too tired! Morning comes early for some reason. Anyway, I went swimming last night in the 25-yard pool. It hardly feels like you can get into a groove before you have to turn around and go back. I really like the Southwest YMCA a LOT better. Anyway, I did a 200-yard warm-up and then a 25-lap main set [1250 yards] in 22:19.42. I probably would have kept going but the swim team had arrived [I actually went over the time by 5 min and felt pretty guilty about it] and I started to get a cramp in my right quad. So I figured it was time to hang it up. I looked at my watch after I was done and I was frustrated because it said 23 laps. Then I was cycling through the readout and I missed two laps somewhere in there! yay! I started out just going at an easy pace "pulling my hand out of my pocket". I don't know if that's proper form or not, but for some reason it helps me out. Instead of swinging my arm around like I'm going to bap somebody in the head I pull my hand up [as if I were pulling it out of my pocket] and then reinsert it into the water. Felt really good after about 4 laps. I think that's the barometer I'll use for my warm-ups for now on. A good 200 yard/meter warm-up.

Today we got up super early and headed over to the trailhead at the Wabash. Brynn had a 10-miler scheduled and I wanted to ride with "the boys" from church, so we decided to double-team it. We headed out going south toward Mineola and almost got there but I had planned on turning around at 40 minutes so I could come back and get a bike/run brick in before Brynn got done. Average pace heading out was probably 11 mph and heading back was probably 17-18. Cruising with the guys is at a nice and easy pace. Got to talk to Dale Ruis about training a little bit. Told him I'm planning on doing an ironman so he said if I wanted someone to train with or whatever to get in touch with him. I think I might hit him up on that! Anyway once I got back to the trailhead I quick threw the bike in the car and headed out on the run. I definitely was striding way too long/fast because my knees felt like I was running on them instead of my feet! I shortened up my stride and fell into a good pace. No idea how fast I was going, I know I ran out two miles by the time I saw Brynn. Took a wee in the woods and caught up with her. She was having horrible side stitch issues [welcome to MY world!] so we walked a lot of the way back. Probably ran 3/4 mile total on the way back. Really long and fast run interval at the end, around 3 minutes. Felt really good afterward.

Iced the knees and showered, nap time!
