The crossover sounds challenging, and fun. Happy writing to you!
I'm not sure You know, I feel the same way. There are folks on theForceDOTnet's boards who have read every book, seen every movie and television special, heard every podcast, etc. and they intimidate me. I'll never be a Superfan like my BFF from high school. :/
I've already written a little bit of it, but I keep telling myself I can't finish or publish it until I've caught up on Night Vale. So... never? Haha. It's really intimidating! What if I get something wrong? What if I don't know everything? I'm definitely with you on not feeling like a superfan at all (Except of Hanson. Definitely a superfan of Hanson, haha).
I wanted to see their show in Nashville, but I couldn't quite swing it. Jealous!
I've got the novel checked out right now, so hopefully once I've read it I'll get inspired for the fic. It's just going to be a oneshot, but it could be lengthy...
It's hard to say. For me, fandom goes in cycles, since I have so many of them. Right now, the big ones are Hanson, Star Wars, and Penny Dreadful. And that's about it. Which isn't to say the other ones aren't there, they just sink in priority until . . . something . . . happens.
Also, since I tend to marathon lots of movies and write reviews, I will sometimes go fangirl over a particular actor but not necessarily one specific thing they've starred in. (Again, the big ones right now are Tom Hiddleston and Scarlett Johansson--partly because of the Avengers, but I'm also branching away from that because they've been in so many things, and I need to see ALL OF THEEEEM. Working in a library is helpful.)
And I will read the hell out of that Nightvale fic, when it happens.

Alright, it's decided! I'm reading this ebook of the Nightvale novel this weekend, and starting (or re-starting) the fic as soon as I'm done! :D
