you and me are the difference between real love and a love on tv

Two days in one, playing catch up!

Stretch yourself a little and try something new. Go play in a new fandom or with a new pairing or trope. Try creating a different kind of fanwork. Or check out some types of fanworks that are new to you.

Although I haven't actually done it yet, this is me officially saying that I will read all the Larry Stylinson fics tondada has been recommending to me. I know she probably thinks I'm not interested, but I am. I'm just so fucking busy, so it's actually good to have someone weeding through the fic for me and finding the good ones ;)

In your own space, talk about what you think the future holds for fandom. What are your hopes and dreams for fandom? Do you have any predictions about what the next five years holds for fandom?

Oh boy. This is a good one. I'm going to talk specifically about the Hanson fandom, since that's what I know most. But I may stumble upon some general thoughts, too.

For whatever reason (okay, I can trace it back to the app and one particular story,), this new album is really giving our fandom a boost, and I hope to see that continue in the next five years, which will hopefully bring us to Album Seven. Seven! It's crazy to think how long we've all been doing this, loving these boys and writing stories about them. But of course some of us are newer to one or both of those, and that's awesome too, and I hope that new fans or those who are just new to fic continue to wander into our little hanfic world.

I've seen hanfic starting to become higher profile and more talked about outside of 'traditional' fic spaces, like LiveJournal, and I'm not sure that's a good thing. It worries me that people who disapprove will cause even more trouble for us fic fans/writers than they already have. I worry that the closeness we feel (whether it's real or imagined) to the band will cause people to take flying leaps over the fourth wall and make the boys uncomfortable re:fic. I hope fans continue to expand the fic audience without much backlash.

Basically, I just hope that we continue to write more and more awesome stories!

For me personally, I see myself continuing to run PTH and write my fic. I'm toying with the idea of de-Hansonizing some and publishing them, and I'm really glad that this is becoming a more common thing in all fandoms. There's something about the way fanfic "feels" that I'd like to get more of out of original fic. So maybe I can be a part of that movement.

I feel like I could keep talking about this forever, but those are the main things I hope to see happen or continue to happen.
