laaaaaaaaaaate commentary for savagestime: spoiler warning (the Doctor is Peter Pan)

May 12, 2009 23:20

Just a warning, this started as a commentary, and it quickly veered into something closer to a character essay/study/whatever, so it may be a bit rambly, which is my tendency, but well....if you are able to read through it more power to you.  The original story without commentary can be found here.

Well, first off, this is actually a piece that ( Read more... )

So, I'm reading this, and all I can think is 'I don't know who the feg Jimmy Stone is.' I honest to God cannot remember this person, at all. Nada. And now I'm like: shit, I wanna know!

So who the hell is Jimmy Stone? (Yes, I know I could look it up. No, I'm not gonna. *lazy*)

Beyond that, reading your thoughts on Rose's character certainly gives me a much better understanding of why she's selfish, particularly with the attachment to Pete. The way you've described your though processes on that bit made me go: oh yeah! I think it was always there, that knowledge that she acted as she did because of false stories, but seeing you put it in writing really helped drive it home for me.

Also Peter Pan. I squeed, I admit it. Anything related to PP makes me flail. I can't help it! He was like my first crush ever :|

Ah, Jimmy Stone. He is the most minor of minor characters ever mentioned, but I have this strange tendency to grasp onto small passing references and decide they are character defining things. He was mentioned in like two eps, and the Doctor Who annual in 2006, but again I always liked the idea of him. PLUS, it does show a trend of Rose's. Also, she likes older men apparently, if Mickey was like 5 or 6 in Father's Day, and Rose started dating him at 15, so yay, another trend! I think it would've been neat to see or hear more about him at some point, but we never did ( ... )

I keep trying to come up with a reply to this, but you said so many nice things and stuff, that make the things I say sound better, that I'm afraid I'm going to ruin it by not just exiting on a high note. But, anyway....

You didn't link to the tv trope. I'm disappointed. But yes, I do enjoy journeys too! So yay journeys and quests and all that stuff! Oh, I like that it could be sort of Buddhist as well. (Oh Five)

And Jackie/Mickey all the way!

I can't think that she didn't love Mickey. If people say differently, well, idk, I say she did and that's how I play it. I just think it got to more of a friend/brotherly thing by the end instead of being in love with him ( ... )

:| Yes, but not as awesome as you!

You know you want to click, you know you do. Or you've read that trope all ready, which is more likely.Nope, I didn't. I went and checked my app as I was answering the question, and was just going to copy/paste whatever I said, but apparently I didn't say anything about it in the psychology. I fail! :D ( ... )
