Just a warning, this started as a commentary, and it quickly veered into something closer to a character essay/study/whatever, so it may be a bit rambly, which is my tendency, but well....if you are able to read through it more power to you. The original story without commentary can be found
here.
Well, first off, this is actually a piece that

You didn't link to the tv trope. I'm disappointed. But yes, I do enjoy journeys too! So yay journeys and quests and all that stuff! Oh, I like that it could be sort of Buddhist as well. (Oh Five)
And Jackie/Mickey all the way!
I can't think that she didn't love Mickey. If people say differently, well, idk, I say she did and that's how I play it. I just think it got to more of a friend/brotherly thing by the end instead of being in love with him.
And Rose does feel entitled, at least I think so! I thought I talked about that in her psychology, but I guess I didn't. She thinks she deserves more, and again, she thinks if she packs up and runs away everything should and will be waiting for her when she gets back. I mean, every time Mickey and Jackie do try to talk her down as well, there is that, you just don't understand, this is too small for me, I deserve bigger better things sort of attitude. I could probably make a more coherent analysis thing at some point, but apparently today isn't it. And yeah, that is it, the AWESOME RIDE, because, I mean just using Martha as a parallel, Martha ASKS to go to certain places like in Gridlock, Rose is just like "oh cool, where are we going next!" and doesn't really think to ask for certain things (the exception being Father's Day, and that was a bit less for adventure or whatever and more selfish motivation). I think Donna asks to go certain places as well, like she asked to go to Midnight, for R&R while the Doctor went on that bus trip.
I think I do remember that idea of Nietzsche's! And again, you phrased everything I'd want to say in a prettier way than I ever could.
And I think Jackie did put that bad habit into Rose, and I think she did to Pete as well. She let him make excuses and say "this time will be different" and let him carry on with his ways. And I wouldn't blame Jackie either, the thing about Jackie is she gets stuff done, I mean she does. You give her a task, and she knows five people who can get it done for you, she gets on the phone, she'll get reinforcements, she'll do whatever. And I think that's Jackie's mentality, things have to be pushed to happen. It's why I have to imagine that year that everyone thought Rose was missing or dead had to be absolute HELL for Mickey, if Jackie was convinced Mickey was in some way responsible. Because man, can you imagine the lengths Jackie would go if she did think Mickey did something to Rose?
And Pete Tyler is pretty Peter Pan-ish too, but yes that is very ironic.
And regeneration was SO that moment. So much so, at least I think.

You know you want to click, you know you do. Or you've read that trope all ready, which is more likely.
Nope, I didn't. I went and checked my app as I was answering the question, and was just going to copy/paste whatever I said, but apparently I didn't say anything about it in the psychology. I fail! :D
And yeah, I guess she does fit the sort of companion definition a bit better too, because she is as you said along for the ride, whereas Martha has all her questions and things, and Donna is just bossy and awesome.
I wonder if Martha is more open with her questions and requests too, because she didn't meet like an overly depressive/suicidal Doctor. Yeah, he was emo and things, but she learned that over time instead of being hit with that the moment she met him. I mean, Rose asks him where he's from and he like blows up at her, shows her Earth dying, and then is like "everything I ever had ever is gone, just like your home will be gone eventually too!" and she got the "The Doctor's constant companion is DEATH" speech and Donna got to meet Ten in The Runaway Bride, when he was all suicidal-ish and depressed and things. The Doctor actually sat down with Martha and had a nice discussion about his home, after he lied of course, but it is more than any other New Who companion has gotten. I wonder if that makes Martha's relationship with the Doctor a bit healthier in a way as well, because Martha was able to learn that about him over time and develop a sort of relationship with him before she found out about his baggage, perhaps making it easier to accept. Maybe, maybe not? Who knows!
Why am I being punted twice?!?!
I think Jackie is super impressive that way, so much so! I mean, Parting of the Ways, she gets them a tow truck in like less than an hour, and is just like "yeah, I called in a favor." I mean come on, Jackie, she gets things done. And I feel horrible for Mickey, too. I think that says a lot about him as a person though, that he could get over that and have a decent relationship with Jackie, that he could forgive that, because that was a year of his life, and accusations like that don't just disappear even when proven innocent. Or maybe it's just the show deciding not to ever revisit a really interesting plot point? Either/or. I love Mickey, too!

Took a class or took a class?
I will add it in, when I learn how to speak in complete coherent thoughts again. Which most likely probably means never.
She does. Donna is the best! I love her lots. *loves Donna*
(Poor Martha.) There is no first date trauma, although she does get him being assy in that bedroom scene, so yeah....the Doctor needs to brush up on his dating etiquette. Being emo or a prat is not good form on first dates.
You hurt me because you love me?
She is! I love Jackie lots, too! *loves Jackie* And let's give the show the benefit of the doubt, I like giving the benefit of the doubt, so we shall!

*awww, brain snugging* I hope so, because now I'm functioning at fire-bad, tree-pretty sort of thoughts. *my brain purrs, and then is baffled, because it is in a derp place*
We should watch the Runaway Bride again, I love the Runaway Bride. Or Fires of Pompeii, I like ancient places. Or THE UNICORN AND THE WASP! How can you go 'WHY' at that, it is awesomeness and Agatha Christie. (And we'll just pretend everything after that was a baaaaad dream, yes?)
You are so sadistic. Which I guess makes me a masochist, since I'm still around.
Jackie does! Um, I did a rewrite that included Army of Ghosts/Doomsday with AU!Rose. Here, this is it: http://shewalks-away.livejournal.com/1314.html Um, but pretty much to save you reading, it is Rose comes back with Mickey when he's working all undercover with Torchwood. And Jackie got stuck coming to Torchwood again with the Doctor because he was all like "hey, guess what, Rose is gone in a different universe" and she was like "excuse me!" *follows after Doctor demanding answers, stuck in the TARDIS when Torchwood grabs it* So yes, Jackie is there!
