Democratic Sen. John Kerry phoned President Bush on Wednesday to concede the presidential election, a White House aide said.. The Senator I wanted also conceded.
Only one of my choices turned out to be who was elected, and both amendments I voted against are to be written into law. But I don't believe that whole "wasted vote" thing that people are throwing around. If you cast a vote, you supposedly cast it on some principle that you have, whether it be "anyone but bush" or whatever. Those that voted for Nader, did so for a reason. I know a lot of people voted Nader to protest the two-party demagoguery, and to be perfectly honest, I much prefer them to do it that way than to not vote at all.
I was really surprised to see how many states had amendments to ban same-sex marriages. I guess when they said polls showed the majority of people did not support a constitutional amendment for that sort of thing, they did not mean the state constitution. I am glad my state did not partake in such an abysmal display of hatred and disregard for the civil rights of its citizens, and that our residents did not have to pick one side or the other.
It's disheartening, to see the items that this country thinks are important. The things that take precedence in the peoples (as a whole) minds. The issues we think need to be picked apart, burned down, re-shaped and otherwise distorted from their original form, purpose or intent.
Stick a fork in me, I'm done.
