Ugh. It's one of those "slow starter" days. Saturdays during the semester usually are, because I'm exhausted from the week. I was thinking about going to see My Bloody Valentine today, but since I'm moving at a snail's pace, I think I'll go tomorrow. I've heard good things about it from my flist, so I'll try it.
Next week, I think Jessica and I are going to see Defiance (Daniel Craig's new one). I hope it's still there next week. The theaters seem to shunt movies to the dollar theater so quickly anymore. Of course, movies also hit DVD at lightning speed, so either way, I should be able to see it at some point.
The release date for The Watchmen is growing closer and closer (!!!). I hope they don't screw this movie up. I would be very cross if they did.
Speaking of graphic novels, I said that I was thinking about using one for a class or two next semester. Some of the candidates are:
Barefoot Gen (semi-autobiographical account of Hiroshima and the days after)
Maus (about a man learning about his father's experiences during the Holocaust)
Students for a Democratic Society: A Graphic History (about the New Left movement during the 1960s)
Palestine (a journalist's account of Palestine)
Safe Area Gorazde: The War in Eastern Bosnia 1992-1995 (a journalist's account of the war in the former Yugoslavia)
Persepolis: The Story of a Childhood (this is probably done to death, though)
V for Vendetta (if I can assign 1984, I can get away with this)
A Contract with God (stories about tenement life in the 1930s)
comics,
movies,
